Enjoyed ourselves
Course could have had a 'ranger' moving slower golfers along on a holiday. The back nine was being held up by one foursome.
Course was relatively easy which keeps play moving
Course was in good shape except for the bunkers due to the rain the night before. Staff was friendly and kept play moving for a holiday weekend.
Wide Open
The Prairie Course is wide open with little to get in the way even with shots well off the fairway. I prefer the Traditional Course, but this one is fun to play.
The only negative for me was that the greens were extremely fast and a bit unpredictable. We have had a long dry spell, and it was sunny and windy when we played so that will affect things.
Overall a great place to play.
Course is very scenic & quiet
Course is layed out very well, play the black tees and with
The wind the extra 300 total yards feels like a 1000, great opportunity to use all clubs. Greens great shape moderate challenge, not allot of water comes into play, we played twilight on Monday and finished 3 hrs 40 mins, just 2 of us. It!s a great place to play and very light on the wallet!
Always a great place to play
The staff is the friendliest you can find, and the greens were in great shape.
Great course for the money
Countryside Prairie Course is always in great condition and everyone at the course is very friendly.
Coursse was in Great shape, quick round and very reasonably priced. Best deal ever for a county course!
We played the tips and all shot in the mid 80's. Back tee boxes were untouched/perfect shape. Greens fairly quick. $32 per man on Golfnow GREAT DEAL
If you like links style courses
The layout at Countryside Prairie is quite mundane excpet for the many areas of prairie grasses which often line the partitions between holes. This is likely the reason why picking out the right club for the situation is a challenge on a bright sunny summer morning. Most of the first few holes are sort of into the rising sunlight and finding a ball in that lite is difficult at best. Other than a few criticisms of the demands the greens are a mixture between very large and large and have some devious chammlenges awaiting a ball played from "above the hole." Bunkering is less asthetic than possible with a little cleaning and edging. Don't know that I'd go back sad to say.
I've enjoy playing this course whenever I've played it.
Good elevation changes and variety of looks throughout the course. Greens are good sized, plenty of opportunites for 3 putts. Water available on course for hot days. Course was in good shape on the day I played it. 9th hole doesn't play back into clubhouse which is a little different. They used to have a manned halfway house at the 9th where you could get hot dogs and other food items. Now just one vending machine. Played it for $17 as a hot deal on Golf Now.
Nice course - but what's the rush?
Played yesterday with a buddy and got paired up with another nice couple. Beautiful weather to start and good start to the day, but halfway through they started pushing us to play faster. Not a big fan, especially when we weren't backed up at the tee box or anything. We finished in at exactly 4.5 hours, which considering the heat and the level of play, was very acceptable in my opinion. But at the 16th, the rude dude was quite upset that there were open holes ahead of us and was just a jerk. You think he could have waited until after I hit to bring it up. This small interaction really irked me and just left me wondering...What's the rush?! This is golf, not NASCAR.
A Good Bargain with Golf Now.
Played the course during the holiday weekend. It was a little slow due to the volume, but course conditions were good. A little confused as to why they don't provide sand for filling divots with the carts or on the par threes. Staff is very friendly and it was nice to have a refreshment/snack cart on the course. If I had one suggestion, it would be to add some sand to the green area bunkers.
Good condition....greens roll true.
I had heard that the course was not in great condition a couple of years ago, but the fairways and greens were both in very good condition. the sand in the bunkers was not always good(a bit crusty).
Fun at the Prairie
Countryside's Prairie course is a nice starter course for a higher handicap. Generous fairways, smaller and fewer trees, coupled with slow greens will give golfers (even beginners) an enjoyable experience. I like to start my season out here to shake the "winter" off my game. The main issue with the course is the condition of the sand traps. It appears several truckloads of sand are necessary to replace sand that has either compacted or washed away. Less than 1/2 inch of sand cushions your wedge from the hard ground beneath. Any club will with bounce will do exactly that! Because it's a course for all levels play can be slow but just expect it and enjoy.
good price, but short distance
good course, but too short distance. price was good.
Friendly staff, course always in top condition for the price.
My last time out the lighting siren rang as we were teeing off on the 10th hole. The course staff gave everyone a rain check in relationship the holes completed. Very accomodating
Great value
Countryside has two courses which are well maintained. The green fees are very reasonable and make these courses a great value. When visitig the area, Countrside is always on our list of courses to play.
Good suburban park district course
Wide open fairways and well maintained greens. Played from
The tips. 6700 yards is a fun course. Nice little bar in the clubhouse!
This course is a great value...
Very well maintained fairway and greens are in beautiful shape, love the pace of play in the afternoon and morning, would not play in late afternoon mainly because they have leagues on weekdays....
Nice course, well maintained, with a moderate challenge
Summary says it all for this county course that is priced too high for a tax supported course unless you get a golf now deal.
I like the openess layout yet the distance, wind and elevation changes will definitely challenge golfers.
pace was slow due to just 2 groups in front yet the ranger would not encourage those to keep up.
