Always a great course
I have always had great experiences at Countryside. For a public course, it feels like a private one. Definitely worth playing.
The Prairie course is laid out well, has a great pratice area, large greens and is wide open. I will definitely play again.

Best value in the area
Countryside is my new "go-to" course. It's in good shape, and is challenging for golfers of most any level. I try to avoid weekends, but that is the case nearly anywhere. For the north suburbs, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better course.
Great course
The Prairie course at Countryside is one of the best I've played for the price. It's open, very fair, in great shape, and no two holes play alike. The only thing missing (and its a big one) is the clubhouse at the turn - the Prairie does not return to the clubhouse after 9, but if you don't often stop in on the way to the 10th, you won't miss it. Overall, one of my favorites!
Walker Friendly
Course was in good shape, greens were a little bumpy due to recent aeration. Layout wide and generous, exposed to the elements, would be difficult on windy days. Decent value !
We enjoy playing this course
The course is in great shape and provides enough challenge without becoming a grind. It has pretty good diversity regarding holes and layout.....always fun!
The staff has always been excellent!
Lake County Forest preserve course. They are all consistent, reliable picks in our rotation of courses.
I've always liked the Prairie course at Countryside - much more than the Traditional side. Both are fairly easy with some real demanding holes to keep you on your toes, but the Prairie course offers beautiful wetlands and a sense of isolation that the Traditional cannot match. On the Praire course, there's no returning to the clubhouse until you finish. There's no hot dog at the turn - because there is no turn! You just keep playing, which I find delightful!
My only complaint over the years has been the damage they do to the greens during the spring and fall aeration. It takes many weeks for the greens to recover from the bludgeoning they take, and the course is unplayable. There's GOT to be a better way to aerate.
wide fairways, big greens, little rough and few trees. bunkers big and some deep
This course is very forgiving. Wide fairways with very little rough. Greens are quite nice. Very fast because of alot of wind this day. Bunkers were maintained but quite wet. Not difficult because few trees and rough so if you missed fairway by a few yards chances you still had a shot to reach the green in regulation.
Good play
Was windy and chilly but the deal from golf now was great! Played in less than 3 hours as there weren't many people on the course. It was in great shape, even the greens that had been aerated sometime in the past few weeks. Super impressed with conditions and value of course. A must play, especially when you can get it at such a great price.
Great course but plays slow.
This is a wide open course with very few trees to get in your way.
The challenge comes from a multitude of sand traps, water hazards and tall prairie grasses that are hungry for balls.
The layout is a little screwey with criss crossing of paths so pay attention to the signs or you will find yourself playing the wrong hole. The course must be above the skills of most who go there because the rate of play is always awful and the management doesn't seem to care. You could find yourself staring down a 6 hour round on a busy weekend. I only went back this last time because it was rainy and consequently wide open. Got out in 3-1/2 hrs this time but still had to jump around a threesome of clowns. Try to play real early or on weekdays if you want to enjoy this course.
good value
Good course for the price. Wou.ld play there again
Very nice place to play. Wide open, few homes on course and great shape. Love playing Countryside
Very enjoyable course and nice staff. Have always enjoyed playing Countryside courses. The courses are very well maintained and fun to play.
Comfortable course..
pretty nice and kind course. Specially senior and female golfers.
Good shape for end of the year. Nice scenery and some holes will challenge you.
Played this course multiple times and enjoy it each time. Will play in the future, but watch out for the retirees who come out and slow play down from time to time.
Pertty course
Enjoyed the course, well kept ,feel its a great price for the courses
Prairie course is fun and wide open.
Course is in great condition after a hot and dry summer. Rates are on the high end of average but they do have week-day deals and senior specials. Fun course.
The Prairie Course is a terrific challenge. Fairways are generous and the greens are very good.
I keep coming back to this course. With great deals from GolfNow, you get to enjoy the layout even more. The Prairie Course provides wide fairways and large greens, both in great shape. The greens roll true and pin placements have been fair.
Love the Prairie course!
I play this course a few times a month and this is one of my favorite courses. The rate, service, and course conditions makes this course great value. Lake county forest preserve knows how to maintain their courses. Has a great driving range with grass tees, 2 large putting greens (1 being redone now). Be prepared to play a 4+ hour round.
