Closed For Housing
City sold course for housing. Sadly if was one of the few Charles Maddox and Frank MacDonald courses remaining.
hidden gem
part of me wants to keep this course to myself, but it's better to share! The staff here is terrific! Very accommodating of my late arrival and suggesting I start on the back 9 to make better time. The course is a bit short, but challenging with interesting course layout, water, trees and hills, all making for thinking man's golf and skilled shot making. It's a great value, but not widely known so it's easy to get on the course fast and play fast. They have a terrific pitching practice range too!
$17 tee time, tough to complain
First time playing here, had a lot of rain the last few days so I gave it a shot with knowing I could play a few holes & leave if it was that bad.
Woke up & saw the sun shinning & booked my tee time for $17 GN fees included. Showed up about 45 mins early & was prompted by the lady in clubhouse to start on the back 9 first.
Kind of tough to follow the course for the first time playing, not many cart paths.
Course was a little wet but by the time I played a few holes it started to dry out well. I played the back 9 in about 50 mins, while playing the front 9 in about 75 mins. A few groups were kind enough to allow me to play through, not used to that on the east coast.
All in all, a nice municipal course. It helps I played in about 2.5 hours. Nothing special about the course, pretty easy. Would be too afraid of the "5 hour round" during the summer months to play here often.
Beautiful fall afternoon
Fox Valley is short by modern standards at just under 6,000 yards but it still presents a challenge with tightish fairways and small greens. There are lots of trees that come into play and this time of year the colors were fantastic, though your ball would occasionally roll under a pile of leaves. The fairways and greens were in really good shape and you can't beat the value.
Nice course
Lots of fun, get to drive A LOT. Straight fairways, not a ton I hazards. A little confusing layout, it's priced on the lower end for the area, but still as nice as the others. Being a value, it does attract an older crowd which can slow the play. Staff is super nice and place is very well kept. Played there a bunch and will continue.
beatiful and quite
great course in rural location
quite and not too busy
condition of the courese is good and well
Overall decent course
Haven't played this course in a number of years so it was nice to check it out again. Some very challenging holes and some were quite straight forward. Interesting to have tee boxes designated by extreme rough along the border.
Would play this course again and again.
This is my third visit to this golf course during the last two years. Really enjoyed the golf course and except for some un-repaired ball marks on the putting surfaces, the course was in wonderful shape.
open range.
Course has changed significantly; several trees no longer protecting opposing holes. Don't know if it is related to the Ash borer problem that has plagued so many in our area. Otherwise in good condition but played shorter than I recall.
This place is a dump
This place looks like it was abandoned a few years ago. The course is in dreadful condition. The greens are ridiculous. It's cheap because it is awful.
Really enjoy playing here.
I am a very new golfer but really enjoy playing. For the most part I have only played courses in my area. This is the one I am most comfortable playing at for sure.
Fox valley golf course
The condition was so -so. Maybe it was due to rain in the previous days but I give quality of course a 3 1/2 out of 10. Not impressed course but the staff was friendly. Price of food and drinks were inexpensive as well. I'm more about quality of course myself.

Dirty Carts
The course was in great shape. Stay clear of the trees and you can score well. The rough here is very thick. All the carts I had to choose from looked like they hadn't been cleaned in month. I plat the course a couple of times each year. Great course for the price!
Challenging greens, narrow fairways.
Fun course, good rates. Staff is friendly and available. Pace can slow on weekdays f Batavia High School is going on.
A decent value
This is a short, tight course. It could use a little better maintenance, but overall a good value for the price.
Sand traps
It has very small tee boxes the sandtrap has rocks in them I would not recommend this course to anyone.
Too much ruff, not enough fairway.
Fairways were cut too narrow and the ruff was too deep. They want golfers to speed up and then they cut the ruff so deep that you can't find your ball. Call me tight if you want, but I'm going to waste time looking for my ball.
Quick round on a Saturday
Nice mix of holes. Not pretentious, but nice staff. Some great holes mixed in with some average ones. Nice place to get in a quick 18
Sporty Parkland Course
Over the years I've driven by this course dozens and dozens of times. Their tee sheet wasn't crowded on a weekday afternoon so I finally gave it a try. Here's what you'll discover -
a) small clean efficient clubhouse with proshop, grill and bathrooms with showers facilities
b) a practice putting green off the 1st tee and another small practice/chipping area behind the 18th green
c) a 6000 yard par 72 - obviously a country club back in the day now operated by the City of Aurora
d) very long old school rectangular tee boxes some with two levels....in okay condition but need attention...cool looking because they let the rough grow high around them
e) decent fairways and the ball sits up on them nicely
f) greens are sketchy - unfortunately many have winter damage, very small aeration marks in them in an attempt to get them to come back and some areas are bare/lightly grassed or patched but the greens are playable - just be prepared for some inconsistent speeds and conditioning
g) plenty of topography and trees to keep every golfers attention...rough can be very long and lush in some places
.
Old school layout - many holes have very nice design features to them and if you're a fan of older courses you'll understand why I made this remark.
I'll describe two of my favorites.....
6th hole - playing north along IL Route 25 your tee shot flies over the course entrance driveway. A 533 yard par 5 seems even longer as it traverses up and down and over a couple of depressions that have rough rather than fairway for your 2nd and 3rd shots. A fairly small green top of the hillside that cants severely left even though it doesn't look like it.
8th hole - a really neat short par 4 and a true gem of old school gold architecture. 304 yards with a green site wedged into the side of hill and fronted by a deep mean looking trap. This green cants severely right as does the fairway. A drive to the far left side of the fairway leaves you about 60-80 yards and provides a much easier approach shot.
I'll consider going back to this course next year to see if they can get the greens in better order...with good well conditioned greens this course would absolutely be a no brainer 2 or 3 plays a year.....fun, sporty yet a real nice challenge.
Nice course
Pace of play was excellent! We played in under 4 hrs ! Course in good shape!
Greens are fair but can be challenging !
Great value for the money!
Batavia High School has never been a problem. They play faster than most of the public and they fix their divots and ball marks.
