Major Improvement at Kellogg
I must give credit where credit is due... the Peoria Park District has heard the numerous complaints and has greatly improved the way Kellogg Golf Course is being managed.
Previous issues with slow play have been worked on and the pace of play over the past few months has been average to good.
This is fantastic news for the Peoria golf community. Kellogg is by far the crown jewel of the Peoria Park District's golf course lineup and it truly is an enjoyable layout. The course is almost always in very good shape and they're very intelligent about when to not allow carts out (several holes do not have cart paths and are susceptible to cart damage in soggy conditions) and when to close the course for the day entirely.
The course itself is moderately challenging but not overly daunting. There are holes that offer decisions/challenges to golfers of any skill level (the par 5 8th hole is a great example). Greens are typically a little slow but not unfair. If you arrive early and take time to roll a few putts on the practice green it is usually a fair representation of the actual speed for the day.
The snack shop and clubhouse facilities are adequate for a public course but unspectacular. Kellogg's putting green is nice and well kept. The Park District's Golf Learning Center across the street is a great resource for those looking to hit a bucket of golf balls or work on their short game prior to their round.
Overall, I recommend Kellogg to anyone looking for an enjoyable, fairly priced round in the Peoria area.
Fun at Kellogg
Great conditions for November! Looking forward to returning next year
Challenging in its own way
Doesn’t look as challenging as it can be. Some up/down terrain; ball and feet can be on different planes. Smoother rough is a bit long, but generally well maintained and fun.
Nice course
We happen to get a tee time when the course wasn’t packed. The course could use some water but it was in pretty good shape.
This course is convenient
I like to play early, always trying to get the first tee time but this online tee time is antiquated and is activated at midnight for next week times sometimes it malfunctions
Or is manipulative earlier than midnight for selected personnel. This is a public golf course and for many years one could get early tee times now we have to wait one hour and half total of ninety minutes after sunrise before
We can tee off. The way the course is set we have the sun directly in our face on two and three and the sun is high in the sky. Very disappointing. The operation does not have the customer in mind.
Fun place to play
Fun place to play with variety of layouts and challenge. Course in really good shape for July. Greens fast.
great public course
Kellogg GC is a great public golf course, 4 sets of tee boxes, bent grass fairways and great greens. They really need some player assistance to watch the pace of play
Hole in 1
Great fun. I live in TN now but grew up playing this Peoria Park District course. Great reliving memories on a course in as good of condition as when I first played it in the early 80s.
I also got my first ever hole in one while playing on July 8, 2021.
Tee times
Love the course but tee times are set late morning like a country club , this is a public city golf course early tee times use to be 30 minutes after sunrise now it’s one and a half hours after sunrise 1 1/2 hours after sunrise
Early golfers like myself want to play before it gets to hot
Overbooked
Kellogg is a great course in itself. The course is fun & is great for any golfer. Easy enough for beginners but also offers challenges to more seasoned golfers. That being said, I do not recommend this course for 1 reason: always over booked and pace of play is an issue. Ive golfed here multiple times and a typical 3 hour round takes upwards of 5-6 because pace of play and over booking are always an issue.
