Good Course Poor Management
Got a hole in one on Aug 22 and the course said we’re going to give you a hole in one plaque you gotta buy everyone drinks which I did. They took my name number email but I never heard from the course again. I called up and asked about and the guy was completely annoyed I called and was short with me and said we’ll call you. That was 2 months ago, never heard from them. Lucky for me there’s a lot better courses around never going back after that.
Great course for Muni
Great course for Muni The course was in decent shape considering the dry conditions lately I had a great time the people were friendly I will play it again
Fun course but bad tee time management.
Overall this is a fun course, it's an easier setup and in good condition. The only issue is pace of play. I understand it's a holiday and all but we left after 15 because we were already 5 hours into the round there was 2 groups ahead of us still waiting on the next tee box. Icing on the cake is when we ask the group ahead of us their tee time and it's 1145, our was 1150 haha. On pace for a solid 7 hour round in 98 degree heat.
Wedgewood 5 9 20
Course was in a slight frost delay, teed off maybe 10-15 minutes later than our tee time. Course was in good shape, we were met at the clubhouse and the first tee by two young ladies who gave us the run down on the course protocol. Pace of play walking was pretty decent, we only had a couple short waits on the twosome in front of us, and completed our round in 3hrs 45 minutes. Course is walkable, fairways and greens were well mowed. I been playing here since 1981.
Really good par 4’s.
This course is a real test especially the par 4’s. Can’t wait to come back. Played in 3. 1/2 hours. It was pretty wet but the course was in great shape.
Sun new COVID rules
great to be back out after a month. New rules of 2somes at every 15 mins. Made for a faster pace of play , even walking. Got 18 in 3.5 hours with a couple of 15 mins break. Faster than a normal weekend with a cart. Wish they had the beer cart out! But new rules.
Dry
Course conditions were very dry especially on the back new side still trying to get grass to come in... many bare spots with weeds coming up. They did a great job with the pace of play, but a little pricy for conditions. Course adjusted for woman’s play, which was a nice surprise. Will be a nice course when they get it to take... until then they should lower the pricing.
It's getting better
This is the second time I've played since WEDGEWOOD has revamped. The grass on the back nine is growing but there is a lot of bare spots. The greens on th new holes are great .
Redo is GREAT. Course still a great challenge
Course redesign worked out great! As most have said, they have reversed 9s. Starting with the now new 14th hole...fairway has grown nicely. 15 is neat 130yd par 3. 16 is cool dogleg right par 4 with lots of bunkering on left side. 17 is a 180yd par 3. 18 is a long par 5 with original green from the old 9th hole. Meaning your approach shot can be somewhat long over the water if not for a good drive and 2nd shot to setup short approach.
We were a twosome and were allowed to go off back 9 to start our round and zipped through 18 holes on a Friday 10am tee-time in 3 hours! Starter was super nice gentleman and saw that 1st tee box was loading up with people. Lucky timing for us that no one was making the turn at that time. Will definitely play again! Awesome renovation Wedgewood!!
Wedgewood survives the redesign,
Some recent reviews have been negative but I think they're groundless. We found the course to be a lot of fun. Sure, the grass has to grow in some spots. The cart paths need some work., But the course was fine in the areas where you play,
The sand traps had real sand.. The greens rolled fine, although some of the new ones were slow.
The par 5 on the back none that got redone as a short Par 4 definitely needs some yardage markers. My intuition failed me, and I overshot the green. On a long course like this one, that was the only time I was long.
New layout is good, some holes still undet repair.
The reversal of the front and back 9 to accomodate the car dealership is very playable. Just remember the 1st tees has moved to the former 10th location. The course is in good condition except for a few holes still under construction/repair.
Greens are in excellent shape, and the bunkers actually have a playable sand base ( not the case on many of the local courses at this price point and playing level.)
This course is playable on many holes by beginner, but would be difficult on many holes if it was your 1st round or two. Great for intermediate, and interesting enough for an advanced player. Friendly and helpful staff.
Good Design/Layout But Poorly Maintained - Dry and Hard
Apparently, the back nine has recently been reconfigured and includes newly constructed holes and revised holes. Wadsworth, a first class golf course construction firm, did the construction work and the physical layout is now very good including sodded fairways and large greens.. But it was clear today that no water was being applied to the fairways and much of the newly constructed rough areas. Literally, these extensive areas are brown and rock hard ... have to believe the sod will be lost if water is not put into play immediately. Surprisingly, a course employee told me that no watering was being done because a new transformer is needed for the sprinkling system. If true, this isn't good planning considering newly constructed holes in particular and the course in general need water in July and August to survive! Hope this year is used to enable the new holes to survive and mature ... the design and overall layout of the course are really quite good. Best of luck to the Wedgewood team.
