Great Greens
They evidently had lots of rain. Appears to be lots of mold or fungus in the fairways. There is probably not much that can be done considering all the rain that has accumulated. The greens are very fast but roll true. The greens are well maintained.
Well Worth a Sunday PM Drive
Thanks Wolf Creek for the $20 (fee inclusive) hot deal. Enjoyed the afternoon. As a first timer was welcomed and allowed to tee off early. This is a really nice well routed fairly "mid" school golf course with superb greens....wonderful speed/roll out/extremely smooth....greens you can look at and read the break. I'll reiterate - absolutely superb putting conditions. From the White tees course plays over 6600 yards and it's more than most golfers can handle as this course appears to be very wet even with a little rain...and plays even longer. Lots of doglegs to keep your interest and you have to keep your ball out of the trees to have a chance at scoring. Most of the greens are rounded but some are very large targets and slope back to front. Very well maintained except the fairways are "patchy".....there are areas of good fairway grass and a lot not so good from burnout/wet conditions. Can't complain about that...just move your ball to a nearby good patch of fairway to hit from. From the white tees all 4 of the par 5's are "brawny" challenges....you have to hit good really long (250 yard plus) tee shots. Rough areas are in good shape. If you want to enjoy your day play the 5800 gold tees....you can at least make the corners of dog legs on several holes and the course becomes reasonably playable for the average hitter.....the par 5's do get a tad short.....but the rest of the course plays from a decent length and it's really "tight" tree lined in some areas. The difference between the White/Gold tees is very large.....my suggestion would be to rework/rethink the Gold tee yardages and placement on a few holes to bring that up to 6000 to 6100 yards....moving them back a tad. The 16th (par 5) has a dead left dog leg after your tee shot (requiring a least a 250 yard shot to make the leg which then goes over Wolf Creek) and the 17th is a very pretty well designed par 4. If the fairways were in better shape 4.25 stars. A 4 star rating from me because the putting green conditions (which is 1/2 the battle) were some of the best experienced all season. Worth the drive and worth $30 or so. Thanks for a great afternoon Wolf Creek!!
Wolf Creek battled the elements and Lost
Course is in need of fairway repair from spring flooding hot temps then torrential rainstorms.
very challenging from the white tees for my age and health. But playing from the gold tees took some challenges away they need a middle tee about 6100 yards.
When dry... it would be a great course
6 in of rain in 2 days prior to playing left this course a sloppy swampy mess! However it is a beautiful course with some unsuspecting hazards and some golf ball loving mature trees. Beautiful greens, fast and had a few elevation changes.
Fun course. play when dry!
Greens were great
Some of the fairways were burnt up, but the greens were fantastic. It's the first time I've played Wolf Creek in about 10 years, and it was worth the drive. I look forward to a return trip and the challenge of not three putting a third of the holes.
Great layout
Love to play this course. Plenty of challenges if you miss the fairway. Course is in great shape. Well maintained. Friendly staff.
A great course
This is a beautiful golf course. The fairways are perfect and the greens are fast but roll true. It's well worth the trip and I'll definitely play it again.
