They are working on the course, adding sand to the traps, and cleaning up down trees. It plays well. Staff is very friendly.
Really a nice layout needs to improve condition
A really good surprise! Didn’t expect the layout of the course to that good. Conditions need improvement and some trees need to be cut back in front nine because they overhang to close to the tee. I will be definitely be back with my friends.
Okay for the price
Course wasn’t bad, fairways where a little hard to differ from the rough when on the tee. Kind of torn up and didn’t really seem like there was much being done to clean the leaves up. Staff was alright the guy checking me in was super relaxed a little unprofessional but wasn’t terrible or rude. Small town course small town price was okay for the price but mostly won’t go back again.
Other than some fall leaves. The course was very nice and have done a lot of work this year.
Needs help
Interesting layout, but not in great condition. Greens bumpy with dead spots. And did NOT look like they were just aerated. Many bad spots in fairways. They were doing some slit aerating, so that was good at least. Cart paths had many severe bumps. Maybe check back next year to see if there was any improvement.
Rough around the edges but worth a play
A $23 hot deal got me to Sandwich to experience Edgebrook. As a first timer I was welcomed warmly and everyone I encountered was extremely nice and pleasant - clubhouse to grounds crew. The course has experienced some tough times in recent years....and the conditioning certainly suffered.....but in "decent enough" not great shape....and very playable if you use winter rules throughout and allow yourself a reasonable lie when in the fairways. Greens had a decent speed (some have gotten a lot smaller than they were originally) but as per a previous review below greens were not cut in the morning....so lots of dew....and I would recommend getting a time after 11am or so so you don't have a dew issue in case they don't cut greens that morning. Tee boxes need renovation/work and you can tell the grounds crew have made improvements to some cart paths and trying to resolve some drainage issues as well. Cart I had was very new and fairly clean.....a nice surprise. A couple of groups of very slow players did mar the back nine unfortunately. The 5 hole stretch from the 3rd hole to 8th hole is pretty formidable....and test your game. 10th and 18th holes next to each other share tree issues/quirky/too tight but both fun. Most of the back nine plays through a subdivision near the Sandwich Fairgrounds. Course is a $25 value. I recommend it and will go back and take some others for their takes..paying anymore than say $30 you'll probably be disappointed due to the overall conditions.....but again stress very playable. I enjoyed my day at Edgebrook.
Mixed reviews
I hadn't played the course in a few years. The course had a change in ownership and I had heard mixed reviews regarding the course conditions. Decided to see for myself.....very good shape, friendly staff, nice amenities! Refinished bar area looks great and will be wonderful when Covid rules allow for an opening.
Course was miserably wet.
We teed off at 8:30 am as a twosome. Finished at 11:30 am. We putted on morning wet greens on 16 holes. They managed to mow just two greens. Actual putting skills were useless.
Upon returning to the clubhouse after the round to voice a complaint about the unmowed greens and to ask for a 50% refund, we were told the manager was busy on a conference call so nothing was going to be done to address our complaint. We weren’t treated rudely just very indifferently. I will never play Edgebrook again or recommend it to anyone.
Nice layout, but poorly maintained
This is a nicely laid out design and very reasonably priced, but the course is not maintained well in my opinion. The grass on the greens and fairways are kept rather long I suppose in order to require less maintenance, but if you are used to playing on typical courses that mow the greens and fairways short you will be disappointed with the conditions here.
Waste of money
This course is terrible. The last time I played it was 5 years ago and after my round I remembered why. Course is poorly maintained. Pace of play is way too slow. No ranger pushing people. Don’t waste your money.
Coming back!!
Bobby, Scott, and the entire staff are working hard, and are very welcoming to everyone.
As a former member of this country club, I'm looking forward to the latest improvements to come this year.
I'm confident, this new management is going to get things back to the true "Country Club" it once was, in years past.
The layout is great, the amenities give you everything you need.
A little TLC, and regular groups of players WILL bring Edgebrook C.C. back to its heyday!
