Course was in great shape. Had just aerated the greens, but they still rolled smoothly. Only issue was sand traps. Some were so hard you couldn't even play them.
Love the golf course and most of the staff treat customers great. Rick, who works the front desk, is a total ***hole!!!
Beautiful morning at Noble Hawk
I've played this course several times and find it a nice challenge. Water comes into play on many of the holes and some of the fairways are fairly tight but not unfair. This course was in excellent condition even though there hasnt been any rain for several weeks. In fact, some of the tee boxes were soggy at 8am. My only complaint was that a couple of the sand traps I was lucky enough to hit into had very little sand making it very hard to get under the ball. I was also disappointed in how many divot marks were in the greens that hadn't been repaired. What happened to that old saying of fix your ball mark and 2 others? It seems golfers are getting very lazy when it comes to helping maintain the courses they are playing. Overall, I love the layout and difficulty!
Noble Hawk is golf
Green fees are priced affordable for area. Course is two entirely different courses in one, out/front is link'ish style; at the turn the in/back is 'American' style. Greens are true and most of the time fast, number 4 par 5 gets your attention as well as number 9 - which is a par 4 and plays around a lake to a double-green shared by 18th green. Now for the back, Amen Corner is #13, 14, and 15 - par 5, 4, and 3 respectively. Thirteen: LONG, crosses creek twice to a 3-tiered green. Fourteen: deceiving, perfect drive is down the hill short of the creek; 2nd chip to an elevated false front green. Fifteen: par-3 over pond - nothing more to say.
Great staff. Nice layout. Good variety of holes. Front 9 and Back 9 totally different. Nice finishing holes on both 9 & 18. Staff very nice and always accommodating. Rick is the best takes care or our group every year. Always look forward to seeing Rick at the golf shows in the early part of the year. Then we know it won’t be long before we’re back at NobleHawk.
Started with the guy in the clubhouse being as unfriendly as could be. No directions to practice green or range. We were just told to be ready because he might page us early. Rushed us to the first tee without explaining how to get there. Was turned off immediately. Played 5 holes then hit a huge backup with 4 groups on hole 6. Was so irritated we left after nine without saying a word. Would not go back. Much better options for the money where they will appreciate you being there and not act like it should be the other way around.
Hello Chris, thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for your experience during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We are going to escalate your feedback to our team so we can make improvements before your next game and will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing Noble Hawk Golf Links. We hope to see you again soon.
There was a golf outing just before we played and the greens were we beat up and not in the best shape. Cart paths have alot of pot holes, Course needs some TLC.
Good Track in Noble County
I've played Noble Hawk probably half a dozen times. I always enjoy the layout - and if you get lucky enough to play it when it's windy, then it's really a great golf experience. I was impressed that the course is still in good shape considering all the play it has gotten this year. The greens were a little slower than they have been traditionally, but still rolled true. The fairways had some spots where they were beat up with divots, but again, they've had a lot of play.
Pace of Play can be an issue out there, but if you go later in the day, I've had better luck. I've never seen a beverage cart go around, but they do have some available at the clubhouse.
In terms of the course, it is a good setup with two different 9's. Front 9 is a pretty open, links style course. The Par 4 7th is probably the best hole on the front in terms of strategy. It's a good risk-reward par 4. Smart play is to hit an iron or hybrid to the right of the water and short of the bunker. However, it is driveable if the wind is favorable. The back 9 is more tight, with many of the holes going thru the woods. There's also 3 par 5's on the back as opposed to just one on the front. 13 and 18 are two really difficult par 5's. 13 requires 3 really good shots, and 18 has two water hazards, but is reachable in two with two good shots. It's a great finishing hole. 14 is another precision par 4. In theory you can go for the green, but the smart play is to hit an iron or hybrid to just in front of the creek. 15 is a daunting peninsula par 3 over water.
This is definitely worth the play if you're in the area, and I make the drive of about an hour to play it 2-3 times a year. Lower handicappers should play the course from the tips - it's really fun!
great golf experence
we play here every week and have been for a long time. great course, staff and they treat you better than family! it is always a great experience.
Noble Hawk is one of, if not the best course in the area. It’s kept in perfect condition, run by a great group of people and the practice areas are great as well. Highly recommended!
Noble Hawk Is One Of Our Favorites
We play Noble Hawk at least once a year. It is a little over an hour drive from home. We had 16 players and used 2 for 1 coupons. The course was in excellent condition and the staff has always treated us well.
Course was in great shape. Greens are fast and awesome as well as the fairways. Staff was amazing. All around great experience.
Very fun! Course in very good condition. However, no employees were wearing masks that worked in the clubhouse and there were no dividers in the carts like other golf courses are implementing so that people can ride together safely. Not sure if carts were being sanitized.
