Slow pace of play
Course was in good shape this early. Only issue was a slow foursome in front of us. Waited on every hole after 7. Ranger drove by multiple times and did not speak to slow group. It was a chilly weekday round that should of been 3 hours or less and it took over 4.5 hours due to marathon back nine waits.
challenging enough for anyone
One issue is some bunkers were perfect and others were horrible. I wish they would all be the same. It's hard to play out of hardpan bunkers !!
Very average course. Nothing memorable about the course. Tee boxes need work.

5 Star
Everything about the course was excellent. The main thing I was amazed with was the shape the course was in. Fairways, greens, tee boxes, rough where all consisted throughout the whole course. I've played a lot of courses where the first couple of holes have the consistency of this course. Then the rest of the holes go down hill with the quality of upkeep. Truly amazed with Deer Creek. You don't get to hit off of quality fairways at many places like this. Great job to the staff. All around grade A place to play. Hidden gem.
Local course
The course was in good shape. The staff was friendly as always. The starter wasn't very efficient at getting golfers to tee off on time. The regular starter who has always worked the Saturday tee times wasn't there, and the older gentleman who was there, couldn't seem to get the golfers moving in a timely manner. Where is John at? Does he still work there? Pace of play was pretty slow as well.

Great Public Course at a Great Price
I am a Deer Creek veteran having played this course since it opened in the 1970’s. Historically it has been a well maintained course with a friendly staff. The quality and smoothness of the greens on this course rival many of the both public and private courses that I have played. The tees and fairways are always in fine shape. The ground staff do an excellent job in keeping the course that way. The course layout is challenging for golfers of all abilities with five sets of tees to select from and the constant winds add to the course challenge. Deer Creek drains very efficiently. When most courses in the area are closed due to rain Deer Creek is generally open. Many first time visitors are surprised at the quality of the course and generally return many becoming regulars. This course is well worth the visit.
Local course
Aside from the course being a bit wet, and carts on path only, the course was ok. It's still winter until March 21st, and having some days above freezing is a blessing to get out and play.

Good course for the money, usually slow play.
I've been here probably 8 to 10 times just because I live close. Nice course for the money, but very slow play. On the weekend you will be waiting on every hole. Booked a tee time, and was still waiting at least 20 minutes past my tee time to tee off. Took us about 5 hours to finish the round with no breaks and hitting as soon as it was safe. Have a hard time finishing this course in time if you go in the afternoon. It's not uncommon to see people leave after their first nine holes because they get tired of waiting. Seen it many times.
Hello. Thank you for reviewing the course. We apologize for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and to best control pace allowing everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve, and we are glad to see you rated the course conditions to be great during your game. Thank you for playing Deer Creek Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.
Great course for golfers of all levels
Deer Creek is a well maintained public golf course about fifteen miles south of Chicago. The golf rates are a bargain compared to many of the golf courses in the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana area. It is an exciting track that caters to golfers of all levels with five sets of golf tees. The fairways drain faster then most courses in the region. When most courses are closed due to heavy rains Deer Creek is generally open although it might have cart path restrictions but the fairways and greens are playable. Deer Creek is also open year round for the hardy players. Deer Creek features some of the finest greens for a public course rivaling those of some private courses. During winter play the greens are better than some greens are during the summer season. The ground crew staff do an excellent job of also maintaining the tees and fairways as well. The course offers a limited food menu but the friendly bar staff offers many of the most popular alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. The friendly pro shop staff will make every effort to satisfy your tee time reservation requirements. This course is a hidden gem that many first time visitors rave about and become regular visitors from far and wide.
One great value in the Chicagoland area
Deer Creek is a great value for the money. This course is in top condition from tee to green on every hole. The greens are excellent and roll true. These green are better then most public courses and some private courses. This course is open year round barring snow. Even in winter these green are better then some courses are in mid season. The course has five sets of tees that should accommodate golfers of all levels. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Many golfers travel from all over Chicago and Northwest Indiana to take advantage of this course.
Best Cheap Course Around
For the price this course is great. Greens, fairways and rough are all well maintained. Not a very tough course to play and is great for mid to high handicap golfers. Nothing fancy but a slightly above average course overall. Would recommend to many.
A wonderful golf experience
I have played Deer Creek two times , both times I absolutely loved the experience. The course layout is very friendly and challenging. The course is a fun mix of links and tree lined holes, the par threes seem to perfectly fill the high and low corners of the property. The course does not feel flat , like some local courses but has a lot of nice undulating contours.
The staff is the nicest around , starting with the gentleman in the proshop to the grounds crew .
Done miss this golf experience south of Chicago.
