Good course for the money, usually slow play.
I've been here probably 8 to 10 times just because I live close. Nice course for the money, but very slow play. On the weekend you will be waiting on every hole. Booked a tee time, and was still waiting at least 20 minutes past my tee time to tee off. Took us about 5 hours to finish the round with no breaks and hitting as soon as it was safe. Have a hard time finishing this course in time if you go in the afternoon. It's not uncommon to see people leave after their first nine holes because they get tired of waiting. Seen it many times.
Great course for golfers of all levels
Deer Creek is a well maintained public golf course about fifteen miles south of Chicago. The golf rates are a bargain compared to many of the golf courses in the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana area. It is an exciting track that caters to golfers of all levels with five sets of golf tees. The fairways drain faster then most courses in the region. When most courses are closed due to heavy rains Deer Creek is generally open although it might have cart path restrictions but the fairways and greens are playable. Deer Creek is also open year round for the hardy players. Deer Creek features some of the finest greens for a public course rivaling those of some private courses. During winter play the greens are better than some greens are during the summer season. The ground crew staff do an excellent job of also maintaining the tees and fairways as well. The course offers a limited food menu but the friendly bar staff offers many of the most popular alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. The friendly pro shop staff will make every effort to satisfy your tee time reservation requirements. This course is a hidden gem that many first time visitors rave about and become regular visitors from far and wide.
One great value in the Chicagoland area
Deer Creek is a great value for the money. This course is in top condition from tee to green on every hole. The greens are excellent and roll true. These green are better then most public courses and some private courses. This course is open year round barring snow. Even in winter these green are better then some courses are in mid season. The course has five sets of tees that should accommodate golfers of all levels. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Many golfers travel from all over Chicago and Northwest Indiana to take advantage of this course.
Best Cheap Course Around
For the price this course is great. Greens, fairways and rough are all well maintained. Not a very tough course to play and is great for mid to high handicap golfers. Nothing fancy but a slightly above average course overall. Would recommend to many.
A wonderful golf experience
I have played Deer Creek two times , both times I absolutely loved the experience. The course layout is very friendly and challenging. The course is a fun mix of links and tree lined holes, the par threes seem to perfectly fill the high and low corners of the property. The course does not feel flat , like some local courses but has a lot of nice undulating contours.
The staff is the nicest around , starting with the gentleman in the proshop to the grounds crew .
Done miss this golf experience south of Chicago.
Great course,
Always in great condition, very challenging but fair. Always enjoy playing there
Not bad for cost. A little over booked at times but patients is key!
Better than ever
I was absolutely shocked at how nice the greens were. Some of the best I’ve played on this year. The fairways were great too. I have played a lot of deer creek in past few years, it never looked like this. Absolutely recommend before the prices get higher. Lol.
Good course
Great course. Gives you time to learn and be competitive
Great course for great price .
Love playing there . Always had good pace and Floyd is best employee.
Slow play
Played there three times. Twice got stuck behind slow players. First slow time the players would not let us through. Second time the ranger had to make them let us through. Otherwise the place is great.
Early Season
Deer Creek is always fun. It was very early in the season, so course conditions reflected this, but overall came thru the winter well.

Nice layout slow play
Deer Creek is a nice course with a good layout.
Greens are good and fairways are wide
This course has a starter but no ranger so pace of play becomes an issue in nice weather about 4 1/2 hours to slow for me. But when it’s cool or weekdays this course is open.

Place was in amazing shape considering the time of year and they gave us a good price. Will be returning!
