not quite spring time Photo submitted by snareg on 03/09/2015
Acorns in Early June
Greens were very fast and rolled true and held iron shots despite the area’s recent drought-like conditions.
Tee boxes were real dry, but again, God’s fault.
We finished in less than 3:40.
Good quality for the price
Fun and entertaining course at a good price to complete the trio in Waterloo for me! Interesting elevation changes. The staff was super friendly and very welcoming.
Decent layout with some scenic holes. A couple with big doglegs are challenging. Also a few forced carries over water. The par 3s on 6, 9 and 12 have nice views from the tee. The closing hole curls around a lake and is quite hard. Would play a few of the holes differently now that I have seen the course.
The course was in solid shape and some of the fairways were “fluffy” with seemingly new grass. However, it was difficult to get a tee into the ground. It hasn’t rained much lately so the greens were rock hard and were very fast.
Plus they had a lot of ball marks that were not properly fixed. Bunch of new cart paths have been put down but some other places were quite rough. Big downer was that the course was packed and very slow. Had to wait on almost every shot.
Always a great course, but with the always are the other following always: the poor greens are moonscapes thanks to Metro Least bumpkins not repairing ball marks, and SLOOOOW play on the back nine! Got to 13 with 3 groups waiting for the tee, and two more groups on the hole! Moved over to 5 and finished that way to avoid finishing at midnight thanks to slow play.
