St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - St. Andrews Course
About
Opened in 1926, in the "Classical ERA" of U.S. course development, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has been recognized as the oldest family owned-operated golf course in Illinois.
St. Andrews Golf & Country Club was originally built in 1926 as a rival to the Chicago Golf Club. Since then, the club has built its own reputation and stands out for its two championship golf courses and top-ranked practice center. The St. Andrews Course is the club's original layout before the Joe Jemsek Course was added in 1929. It is also the longer of the two golf courses. The club and course draw their name from the famous Scottish club known as the "home of golf," but the course is far from being a seaside links. Instead, the mostly flat layout weaves through mature trees. The golf course offers a challenge with tight, tree-lined doglegs and large, contoured greens framed with sand bunkers. It has a memorable finish with a par 4 that features a water hazard along the entire right side of the fairway.

Only play before 10am during the week.
If you like slow play and even slower greens and have every single tee shot be unlevel this course is for you. I’d only recommend playing the course before 10am during the week when it’s $24 walking (they dont add the cart on golf now cuz it’s $19 extra for gas powered no less). This course isn’t worth over $40 right now. Maybe if they leveled off every tee box, actually cut the greens, and didn’t have tee times every 8 minutes this course would be worth $45. That being said it’s my favorite lay out in the area and I play it once a week. 8 am for $24 walking. The range alone has to make millions how about putting that into the course.
Great Shape
St. Andrew's course was in great shape. The greens are huge and the pin placements were challenging. The pace of play was great as well. The back 9 is longer than the front so your best scoring should come from the front 9.
Crazy cart price
Nice course. Good layout. Too high price for carts, 36.
They kept up with cutting the Fairways but tons of clover and other weeds, even on the t boxes. Pace of play good but we started 645.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We apologize if the price of our carts was higher than expected. We appreciate your feedback regarding the condition of the fairways and will work to address the issue. We're glad to hear that the pace of play was good and hope you enjoyed your round.
5 hours to play 18
Not going back. Nice staff. Tee boxes beat up at best. Can’t believe it took 5 hours to play 18. In this day and age it seems insane to me.
We appreciate your feedback and apologize for any inconvenience you experienced during your visit. We value your time and will address the condition of the tee boxes and work towards improving the pace of play in the future. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.
Love this course!!
St. Andrews never disappoints. The course is laid out perfectly and plays well all year round. The staff are amazing and friendly. This course is for all levels of play and highly recommend you come out and have a great day of golf at a staple in Illinois.

st. andrews in great shape
this course is in outstanding shape.
rough is rougher than usual...so keep it in play.
bunkers are in better shape.
The staff is friendly and accommodating.
because of golf pass & golf now, St. Andrews's is affordable, otherwise, it's kinda pricey.
I’ll be back
This was a fun course! There are two 18’s and i played the one on the North side. The course conditions were fine. It had just rained the day before. So, many of the bunkers were pools of water (luckily I avoided them 😉). The greens were a bit slow, but not beat up. The only real issue was that the fairways were a bit long and the rough was a bit short. That is not so much of a complaint, given how forgiving that is to play, but it is an aesthetic issue. Perhaps the rain played a role in this.
Also, I gave “pace of play” five stars, but a grain of salt is perhaps necessary. I was part of the first foursome of the day. So, we were our only hindrance, in terms of time.
All in all, I really liked the course and will definitely be back.
We appreciate your feedback and we apologize for any inconvenience you experienced during your rounds. We will take your comments into consideration as we strive to improve our course conditions and pace of play. Thank you for your continued support and we hope to provide you with a better experience in the future.
