Edgewood (or The Edge) is an older, tight course with tiny greens that are elevated knee-to-waist height above the fairways, with slope running off in some direction or some doming to the green. The course was in fairly decent shape for this their of course, with only minor areas of damage here and there from water and such.
Being an older course it's very short, and very tight so you have to play it a couple times to find the lines off some tees. You also need a guide to play it, as my GPS App did not match up with the holes as routed (nor were they simply flipped) and there were no signs anywhere other than the tee markers. I'll admit to a few u-turns and use of the map on the scorecard to find the next tee a few times. Without the App working, bring some kind of range finder because they are only marked in the middle of the fairway for distance, so if you spray it's a bit of a guessing game without one. Lots of mature trees lining every hole, and water was only in play 2-3 times. May want to leave the driver in the bag as it tips out just over 6000 yards.
In Anderson pickings are slim for public golf with Killbuck gone, I'd go here before Grandview or Meadowbrook though if I find myself in the area playing. Would be a decent place to learn the game.
Worth the $$
Played with a foursome and had a great time!! We paid an excellent fee for 18 holes of golf thanks to GolfNow. Every hole is different, which is just what I like. A lot of old trees which make more of a challenge not to mention the view is spectacular! I usually have a great time each and every time I play this course. I would highly recommend it to others.
Nice course, not so nice staff.
We were the only players on the course perhaps due to rain or wind earlier in the day. Upon arriving, there was a posted advertisement for a free Edgewood hat with every 18 hole purchase. They said that didn't apply to Golfnow purchases. In fact, the staff at the pro-shop acted like they were inconvenienced that we even showed up to play. They said the pro & staff were new this year & they were changing the culture of the golf course. I've played here often the last three years, and it's one of my favorite courses. Hoping the new management improves customer friendliness next time so I can change my recommendation status.
The course was great and the staff was very friendly.
The course was awesome and it catered to my style of play. Sometimes the flight of my ball isn't always straight. I couldn't stop talking about the condition, and now my wife and her friends are planning to make the drive from Fishers. Driving to Anderson was the best thing I could have done since the local courses seem to always be backed up. Glad I made the drive.
Course is in excellent shape.
Greens and fairways are in excellent shape. Sand traps are better than any I have played in Indiana. course is narrow and so hitting in the fairway is a must.
Left after the 10th hole
Disappointing. This was a hot deal tee time and the first time I've ever played. I understand the course was in Anderson. I have played Grandview before and with that in mind, I figured this course would be better. I ponied up more than I usually spend for a Hot Deal tee time as my local course was booked solid and couldn't get me out (I really wanted to play). Unfortunately, it seemed like they don't care about this course anymore. Nothing was mowed. The fairways were like most courses first cuts. The greens were like putting on other courses fairways. I was just very disappointed as it made Grandview look like THE course in Anderson. I left after the 10th hole (which is the first time in my life not finishing a round) and will never go back.
