we'll keep course
so much fun Greens are amazing , nice people , will go back for sure THANK YOU
While you have a chance
Indiana University will be completely revamping this course. Its suffered from poor management and oversight for years and finally the athletic department, somewhat shamed into it, has plunged some 12 million into its renovation. As such, you have little time to play this course as it was originally designed. As it is, its a great track to play, heavily wooded and serene. You'll not be bothered by traffic or condos on your out of bounds shots. The greens are large, generally sloped from back to front, very few bunkers and no fairway traps. The only distances designated are 150 yard rocks of limestone. The new greenskeeper seems to be doing a great job. The emerald ash borer is taking its toll however and hundreds of ash trees in the vicinity are dead or dying. No water hazards but the rough can be penal. Some blind tee shots and uneven lies should be expected.
Great Day
Easy booking the afternoon before, got a convenient tee time, tee boxes, fairways and greens in excellent shape. Rough was mowed. Didn't wait at any hole, played in less than 3 1/2 hours. Great Value! I'll be using Golf Now again.
Wolverine in Hoosier land
We had a very enjoyable round of golf, a great day on a great course.
Course is in FANTASTIC shape for the Spring...
Played IU today for the first time this year, and I can confirm the course is in great shape right now. The greens are fast and smooth and the fairway grass is lush and green.
I can't say enough about the change in the greens from the past decade. Starting last year they finally got serious about taking care of the greens, and what a huge difference it has made.
Virtually every green is sloped from back to front, so be VERY careful about putting your approach shot above the hole.
GREAT SHAPE -- 3 WEEKS MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE
I left a review at the beginning of September warning people to stay away from IU until the end of the month because they heavily aerated the greens and fairways.
I played IU again yesterday, and course conditions have improved greatly. It is now ready for Fall play. Greens were fast and fairways were pretty thick with new grass.
Great day for a round
Played as a single and foursomes in front were slow and finally let me play through after #5 and #7 respectively. Other than a few of the greens being a bit sandy and playing around about 5 or 6 the sprinklers, the course was great.
GRASS IS DEAD -- AVOID COURSE UNTIL END OF SEPTEMBER
I live in Bloomington and have played IU approximately 10 times this year so far. The course has been in better shape this year, especially the greens which are noticeably faster.
However, they aerated the greens and fairways recently, and when you combine that with the dead grass everywhere, the conditions have deteriorated quickly. I would wait until the end of September (3 weeks or so) before playing again. It's just not worth the money currently, even for a cheap Hot Deal.
IU Championship
A couple of fairways and greens were in rough shape - more than likely from standing water at one time earlier in the year. Green speed was perfect and they rolled very smooth.
a good challenge
this is the second time to play this course and I have truly enjoyed it both times,
the sand in the bunkers is excellent and well manicured .
the course is somewhat hilly in places so be aware if you are going to walk.
This Course is a must play!!!!
Have always wanted to play this Course as I grew up an I.U. Basketball fan.
Thanks to Golf Now I couldn't pass up the opportunity and it was well worth the trip.
Was everything I expected and much more with it's scenic views. Very tight fairways that take accurate drives off the tee. Missing the fairway does not have it's rewards as the rough is difficult to recover from. The Greens are very large for the most part with a few smaller ones but very consistant all the way around.
Althought the Fairways could have been cut a little more shorter but that's to be expected considering all the rain we've had lately.
But having said that I can't wait to get back. Look forward to playing the Par 3 course as well and making a day of it.
course in excellent condition
course in excellent condition. Staff friendly and helpful
Major Improvements!
This golf course is under new management and boy, can you tell a difference! The course is in the best shape it has been in for years! The fairways are green, the greens are rolling smoothly, and this course has really improved. Without a doubt the place to play in Bloomington!
Great Course
I know the course wasnt in good shape earlier this year but they have taken great care in restoring it.
AVOID THIS COURSE!! HORRIBLE CONDITION
I had avoided playing IU since July because it was in really bad shape. However I played it again yesterday, after a 10 week hiatus, and it was even worse.
Greens are shaggy and bumpy. Maybe a 5 on the stimpmeter.
Fairway grass is dead. Rough is dead.
It's so bad the course shouldn't even be open.
It's an embarrassment to the University.
All around great course
Course was great. Friendly and helpful staff and the course was kept up very well.
Trash
The rough is so overgrown its near impossible to find your ball. The fairways have patches that have no grass at all. The greens are ungodly slow. There are no water features or anything special. I will never golf here again, especially given the ridiculous price for the quality of course and the fact that a single was paired up with our threesome on a slow day.
