Very bad shape.
This course was in the worst shape I have ever seen it. Many greens had much dead grass and crabgrass. The fairways were bad too. It was awful.
This course is in AWFUL condition!
Normally I do not review courses but this course calls for an exception! I honestly do not even know where to begin! I have never been so disappointed in how poorly the conditions of the course were. You pull up to the clubhouse and there are literally 5 cars in the parking lot on a sunny day that was perfect for golfing, that should've been the first warning that something was wrong. The clubhouse and everything around it looked excellent and in great condition, but walking onto the course was a whole different experience. We got up to the tee box and you looked out into the fairway on number 1 and could not tell the fairway from the rough! We all hit decent drives but it took us 10 minutes to find our balls because it was buried in the grass that resembled more of a goat pasture than a fairway! We could just tell it was going to be a long day from there. It did not get any better either! Every hole was miserable because if you did not hit your ball in the middle of the fairway, it was not going to be found. If by some miracle you did find it, don't plan on hitting it out of the rough because it was up to your ankles! It was so unbelievable and so frustrating! I have played this course a few times in the past and it was always a fun time with some interesting holes, but this was the most miserable round I have ever played. We played as a foursome and are all decent golfers with handicaps from about 8-15 and usually play 18 holes in about 3 hours and 45 minutes going at a casual pace but this round lasted a little over 5 HOURS because we had to search for our golfballs after every shot due to the lack of course maintenance. The greens had crab grass growing on them making them very bumpy and it would throw your ball off pace plus they were extremely hard. The bunkers were as hard as concrete and there was no way to hit out of them unless you wanted to damage your club. The tee boxes were in terrible shape and some the grass was as high as the rough on a normal course. We got a good deal on this round but it was no where worth paying to play here! I would not go back and play at this course if I could for free! It is embarrassing for the golf course superintendent and anyone associated with this course because this course should be shut down if it can't be maintained any better than what it is now. First maybe they should start by cutting the grass that was as high as grass you would see at a crack house or an abandoned shack. This used to be a fun course to play but now it is just an absolute joke that no one should waste their money playing. Spend $20 more and play at a real course and enjoy yourself instead of suffering through this course. I really hope they get it figured out and turn the course back around but it is not looking likely. Don't waste your time or money at this course! In the worst shape of any course I have ever seen or could ever imagine!
thick rough
The fairways and greens were in the worst shape Ihave ever seen them.also the rough was so thick if you went even a few inches of the ffairways you could easily lose your ball.I lost at least 6. It was the same around a lot of the green sside bunkers.course needs a lot of TLC.Won't be going back this year. Try again next year. Its a really nice course when properly taken care of.
course is the worse condition I have ever seen.
This course is in the worse condition I have ever seen. I have played here for over 15 years and the fairways are overgrown and the rough is out of control. I only paid 14 off of golf now and still feel cheated.. hope they get help getting it back to the shape I remember it to be..
Needs work
MOW. That's a good start.
Your review won't accept my review because it's too short.. So mow some more.
Cattle Ranch
This is the worst I've ever seen this course. It used to be one of my favorite places to play, now I wouldn't play it if I got a free round. The fairway was as thick as rough and we were losing balls in the middle of the fairway. The rough was PGA length and no water in any jugs. The only positive were the greens. Pathetic Course just like the clubs they advertise, "warrior golf"
Not again this year
As others have stated, this course used to be great but has gotten away from them. It's not only in need of work, but money. I think its about more than simply mowing. Horrible ownership, horribly managed. Clubhouse was fine. In fact, everything else was fine but the course. I also lost a lot of balls. Most weren't even bad shots. A couple were in the fairway! I booked my round as a hot deal and only paid 16 after fees and I'm sure I lost more than that in balls. I wont be back until I hear that they've turned it around
Thanks for playing and posting your comments. We have had a lot of trouble maintaining the course this season, but we are committed to fixing the problems. Leadership has certainly been an issue and we are working toward hiring a Superintendent who will be able to bring the course conditions back to normal.
Don't waste your time
Course is need of some serious work...worst I have ever seen it. The fairways look like they hadn't been mowed in two weeks.
We apologize for what you experienced at Quail Crossing. We have had serious internal issues with leadership, staff, and equipment that lead to this problem. We are sending resources to Indiana to help fix the situation in the short term, and looking to hire a qualified Superintendent for the long term.
Great course, poorly maintained
I've played this course before and it is absolutely beautiful. Wide open spaces, very interesting par 3s, a lot of blind shots etc. however this year it was very poorly maintained. Weeds everywhere to the point where you couldn't see your ball on the fairways. I heard that they changed ownership and that was the reason. I would play the course again, but make sure to bring at least 30 balls.
Please mow the fairways, tee boxes and rough
We lost 8 balls in the fairway, the course had not been mowed in days. We started playing shag balls after losing 8 premium balls. The greens were in great condition if you could make it there? I played with my son who plays high school golf and keeps his scores in a log book. He still scored his log book and was 10 strokes over his highest score for the year. I shot 100 which is 14 strokes more than I would normally shoot on a short course like this. Wow, save your money and aggravation.
Somebody please cut the grass
If it were not for the Golf Now - Hot Deal of $16.00, this experience would have been a total rip off. The fairways probably haven't been cut in over a week and the rough hasn't been cut in 3-4 week. The course is a terrific layout, but when you can't find your ball in the fairway, it's time to go to another course.
Broken Mowers?
Course has huge potential, has not been mowed in quite some time. Tee boxes and fairways in very rough shape. The 'rough' is unbearable, if you aren't dead center fairway you could easily lose a ball.
Please don't pay full price, they need to cut greens fees in half or more.
This course needs maintainence
Fairways and Roughs need mowing Greens are fair but could be much better. This course is going down quickly!
Bad condition
The staff is very friendly, but that doesn't make up for how pathetic the course is. Such a fun layout, but it's in absolutely terrible condition.
Enjoyed the day of golf
Beautiful day for golf and even better when we practically had the course to ourselves. Not a group around us and we could play at our own speed and have fun doing it. The course could definitely some mowing. It seems like they do not keep up with the fairways, tee boxes and rough with mowing. The greens were in great shape though. The rough is really thick and difficult to advance the ball. Be sure to hit in the fairway which make this course somewhat challenging. Great value for the GolfNow price!
QUAIL CROSSING HAS GOTTEN WORSE
Quail Crossing used to be one the areas best golf courses, in my opinion, but after playing last Saturday I will play Boonville Country Club from now on in Boonville. Now please don't get me wrong the dining area, pro shop, club drop off areas are still in great shape. The dining area is beautiful and was being used for a wedding reception when I was there. But once I got to the course, all things changed. From conditions on the tee boxes, fairways, and lack of mowing; the course was in horrible condition. At least the greens were still in decent shape and rolled at a very nice pace. But the overall experience was very disappointing and not up to the standards that was previously set at Quail in years pass. I was extremely disappointed in the course care and management. After playing Boonville on Thursday and Quail on Saturday...I will now play Boonville Country Club when given the choice.
Fairways in poor condition.
Condition of the greens OK. Fairways were under a lot of stress and were not in good shape.
Still needs some work
Greens were in good shape but the fairways are still pretty bad.
Good deal
Course is still a little rough, but is starting to fill in after the winter. Played front pretty quick, but then they sent groups off the back 9 in front of me. Great deal with hot deal prices.
Golfing In March
Down visiting Parents for a week and wanted to play different courses. Saw this on golf now special and went out to play this course. Is spring so course conditions were what I expected. dead grass fairways, been cold spring here this year dad told me. So we played tee it up fairways 1/8" to simulate grass fairways and had a lot of fun dad and I. Was only 50 degrees out, staff was awesome here. Molly was a delight to talk to at the golf counter. Not a hard course or very long. Front 9 is better and more fun and challenging than the back side here. Par 3's are not long at all here. Shot from the White's holing out a 76 here. is Par 71 only which is okay for me. Favorite hole is hole 9 with two water hazards. Very wide fairways to me.
Austin,
I understand your frustration. We are embarrassed about the conditions that you experienced. The course went into a serious tailspin when we made some leadership changes at the course. We have since hired a new General Manager and Superintendent and we believe that the conditions are already improving. It will take us some time to get the course back in playable condition, but we are not taking these complaints lightly and are hard at work to make positive changes. Hopefully you will try us again once the golf course has bounced back.
