Great course and staff despite some rough patches
Overall condition of course is good. They lost a few greens and some deadspots on the fairways due to the bad winter we had. Still very playable, we just used preferred lie. Challenging and fun, plays long and has some tight spots. Will definitely go again!
The course is in terrible shape!
Very disappointed in the overall condition of the course. The excuse was the bad winter for the fairways but the greens were terrible, and it didn't look like they were doing anything about it. The best part of the experience were the carts. I won't be going back even with the discounted rate. It is a shame because the layout is great.
Beautiful, but
The course is one of the finest in the region. It has everything you could want, but the conditions are currently less than expected. The course went through a tough winter, and fairway recovery is about 3 weeks from being complete. The fairways were mowed for the first time last week. The greens are amazing, rough difficult and the scenery is fantastic. I plan on returning in a month or so, and they are 100 miles from my home. It is still worth the trip. Check this place out, and be amazed.
Course is in rough shape
This is the 2nd time I've played Quail Crossing this year and the course was better, but still nowhere near the condition I remember from years past. The fairways were in "fair" condition at best. The sand traps have grass growing in them!
After playing it the 1st time earlier this year, I said I wouldn't return due to the conditions but being that it is so close to my house, I decided to give them a second chance. The only reason I did was because it was a "hot deal" on Golf Now for $30.
I will return in a couple months and see if it is any better. I understand the winter was brutal but there are better courses in the Evansville area in way better shape, and cheaper.
Tough winter
I have played Quail many, many times. I know what the course is capable of and return time in and out; however, the course is in terrible shape now. The fairways are still dormant and the greens were bumpy from the aeration not taking.
I'll give this course another shot but not until later in the year. I was severely saddened by the conditions as was the personnel there.
What a disappointment
Have played this course for years and have never seen it in worse condition. Got a great deal through GolfNow, but still felt like I over paid.
Course
Course is still coming in for the spring but will come around. Always a fun and challenging course to play!
The worst I have ever seen it
I have played this course for years this is by for the worst I have ever seen it .I hope they fix it I love the course
nice course
After a little more warm weather this course will green up nicely. Only issue we had was they were aerating the front nine and we played it last. When we got to it some spots the sand was half inch thick in other spots the green looked like a Chinese checker board.
Wonderful Round for a Perfect Day
Course was in really good shape, with much of the Bermuda fairways still blooming. Greens were in fantastic shape. Overall, a wonderful day of golf!
Nice layout
Nice layout, descent length from back tees ample fairways but enough trouble to catch wayward shots. Greens in descent shape and rolled pretty smooth for this time of year.
very picturesque
No easy par 3's. I like that. Even with the fairways turned (brown) the course is enjoyable to play. Each hole is unique which ads to the feel of the course that urges you to try me again. The course is not walker friendly. I love to walk most times however, several holes are a long distance from one green to the next tee.
Challenging course.
With houses and deep rough on either sides of the course, if your not a straight hitter bring a bunch of balls. The fairways are very nice. The greens need some work. They were smooth and firm, but lacking grass in spots.
Greens are terrible
I would say 75% of the greens are struck witb a virus as we havent had enough heat to burn up the greens around here. we were told "3-4" greens on the front were in bad shape. unfortunately this wasnt true, about half of all the greens on the entire course (so the back nine was as bad, if not worse than the front as well) had been staked off so that only 50% of the greens were "playable". Of the non-staked off greens only 18 and the last par 3 hole were in good enough shape your ball didn't bounce all over the place on your putting. We only paid $22 for 18 holes through golf now but because of the greens this still wasnt worth it. Date was Sept 6, a Saturday I believe.
Five greens were lost
It's not just bad that five greens were in terrible condition...bare spots, dead grass, uneven surface mowing, but the person answering the phone made NO mention of this AND that 1/2 of each of these greens were roped off and no play allowed.
David,
First let me apologize for not responding sooner, I just became aware of your concerns.
Realizing that you are a golfer who has enjoyed Quail Crossing for many years, we fully understand your concerns and want to reassure you that we have been and will continue to work very hard to rectify the issues. With new leadership from Warrior Golf, goals have been set to enhance all aspects of our facility. We have hired an experienced and knowledgeable golf course superintendent. The maintenance equipment which was antiquated is being replaced by new pieces and they have been arriving daily. The new superintendent has been working on building a team of conscientious staff members who will be as passionate and concerned about Quail Crossing as our golfers have been.
The weather has been cooperating with good growing conditions for both the fairways and the greens.
We appreciate your patience and encourage your feedback during this time of rebuilding and growing. We look forward to you visiting Quail in the near future and are confident that you will see positive changes.
Kind Regards,
Mamie Wood, General Manager/PGA Professional
