Nice course
Had a great day. Nice layout, a bit dated but fun. Greens are in great shape, fairways are average for this time of year. 3 hour round, $17 for 18 holes w/cart. I will definitely be back
Things are changing... for the worse
Ouch... This review hurts to post but I have to do it. I had previously reviewed this course at 4 stars but today's experience removed any positive feelings I once had for this course.
It started when we reserved it via Golfnow.com. There was absolutely no indication of anything being done to the course and we paid the going rate for the area for a comparable course. A day before I get an email from Golfnow saying the green will be punched... But we weren't too worried. However, what they DIDN'T say is that the entire front 9 was closed and we would have to play the back twice to get in 18.
The guy at the front, I believe his name is Lauren, is one of the most unfriendly people I have met. He made customers wait nearly 15 minutes while he finished a phone call never acknowledging their presence, was not the slightest bit apologetic about the front being closed or being on the phone so long and then proceeded to yell at my new-to-golf friend who unwittingly brought his clubs into the clubhouse. He epitomized what people have come to recognize as the unmatched lack of hospitality in golf. I feel as if he would have been just as happy if every person just walked out and left without playing.
And the course... oh my... I don't believe my view is merely just being skewed by the lack of customer service but it is falling apart. The driving range is not taken care of at all any more. No flags, unmowed, no yardages... Just a field.
The carts are on their last legs, barely able to even climb the hills (#10 and #27 barely limp along) and the course is overall in a state of decline... at least the 9 holes we saw twice. The tee boxes are so hard it is difficult to even put a tee in the ground and there are zero bunkers now, as they are all empty and filled with grass now.
It is really sad since I used to enjoy going here as my now edited review would indicate. As my son said when we left, I doubt I will ever be back.
Avoid at all cost
I will be honest, the greens are in pretty good shape. However, everything else is just horrible. The golf carts are about to fall apart, fairways are mulch, dirt and dead grass, tee boxes are half sand and half uneven. I get it’s a cheaper course but still overpriced in my opinion. First and last time at this dump
Terrible Pace of Play
I wish I had read more reviews prior to golfing. Pace of play is awful and there is no Marshall. It took 3.25 hours to finish 9 holes. We gave up and left after 9 because the pace was so slow and frustrating. 1-2 groups waiting to tee off per hole.
A little wet but ok
Greens were great. The course was a little wet, but ok. The fairways and tees were as usual. Good value for the Monet.
Historic Course
We only played 9 holes but it was an enjoyable experience! Great service, greens were in excellent condition. Some of the courses were a little muddy due to recent rain but they were being worked on.
Dead Hawk 14th Tee
Enjoyed the round of golf as my wife and I were paired with two local gentlemen who were most enjoyable to play with. However, on the 14th tee box we noticed a dead hawk at the base of one of the trees on the elevated tee box. I alerted the Marshall who happened to be close by and brought it to his attention. He shrugged it off saying it’s been there since the previous day . Not the professionalism I was expecting . Hopefully issues like this are addressed going forward . Otherwise a pleasant experience with two very funny guys … thanks Don and JD for a hilarious day….
The corse is usually great
It was the day after a big rain so guess there has to be some kinda Damage to the corse we had to walk to ball stay on cart path our cart was slipping up and down all the hills but other than the rain damage it was alright
Cresta Verda Good Value
A decent course for the money. It’s 96 years old. I can’t wait to play it on its 100th year.
I had a nice time with friends and family.
I recommend Randolf Scott’s creation.
Quirky
A short quirky course, good sight lines, good green complexes. Worth the money. Will play again.
Player beware!
Though the course may be enticing price-wise, the conditions not so much. The greens are the best part while the fairways leave much to be desired, and the cartpaths are absolutely horrible, broken up and very narrow in many downhill areas. Pro shop staff is very friendly and the snack bar is well worth a visit, but maintenance on the course should be a key issue!
