Bent Oak Golf Club

I’ve played courses everywhere for 40 years.
This is a very nice, local, Private course—not Augusta Natl. Played here 7 times this year, morning & afternoon, course is always in very good shape & all the staff including grounds keepers are always friendly & polite, even staying out of your way until you play your shots. (They are necessary for the good grass & trap conditions and can’t work much in the dark)
The 1-3 star reviews are all from golfers(?) who don’t want to follow the same simple course dress or behavior rules that all good courses have & probably are the ones who don’t repair ball marks or divots…..Please, IGNORE THEM!

I’ve played here before and noticed that the course was in better shape overall than it used to be…everything was very nice—fairways, greens & even sand traps.
Friendly staff too. Play here.

We have played this course many times over the years and used to really enjoy the course and the atmosphere. Things have really changed. Unfortunately, some of the recent reviews mirrored our experience as well. We picked a 9:30 Monday tee time to avoid the busy times. That seemed to be a good choice because there weren’t many players. The club attendant was very rude and did not like the fact that I would be walking alongside while my son played. He gave us a hard time but eventually said we could go out. My son did not slow anyone down nor were there enough players that we would have been pushing others to play quickly. The golf attendant came out while we were on the back nine and said he was getting phone calls about a person walking on the course. We were never in anyone’s way and did not see many golfers. When I asked who was calling, he just deflected and said it was probably people from the low-income housing area along the course. We didn’t realize there was a low-income housing area and have always liked the neighborhood and never had issues with any neighbors. That seemed very insensitive but really explained his character and why he was so rude. He told me I needed to stay closer to my son, and I tried to explain I was always even with the ball and stayed on the cart path even though the closest groups were at least 2 ahead and 2 behind. He continued to make us feel like we were doing something wrong. My son is a very good golfer so it had nothing to do with his pace or performance. My son was upset by this point so we left the course without finishing. Such a disappointment for a course that used to be much better than this. They are a public course who acts as though they are a top tier course which is becoming further from reality for them.

Trash course, even worse management, expect to get followed around the course. Couldn’t pay me to come back

Course was nice but the grounds staff literally followed us the whole back.nine.
If they weren’t in front of us trying to tee off blowing off the course with a loud pull behind blower.
But hole 16 I was over listening to it not my most favorite round there.

The golf course was decent. Needed to have water on the course. It was hot out and none of the water holders had water in them. First 14 holes played at a fantastic pace but then on hole 14 we apparently caught people and waited on every shot until the end. At one point there were three groups on hole 17.

Have gone here 4 different times this year. Everything was fine those times. This time, immediately the golf pro confronted us about our "inappropriate attire". Our husbands did not have collared shirts but had on nice golf shorts and under armour shirts. So, ok fine. Then, the golf pro came out a second time on to the first tee box to point at me and said "her clothes are not appropriate! You cant show your shoulders here. But its fine only this time". Was SO rude. I had on just a black razor back tank top. Nothing "inappropriate". I understand having a policy but this course is not a $150/round course that should be so strict on attire. They had at least 5 "undercontruction" zones on each hole. Not to mention, had this been mentioned any of the first 4 times i had been there then we just would not have returned. Nonetheless, we said ok. Then, the ranger on a cart proceeded to followed us through the first 4 holes as if we were doing something wrong. We play a lot of golf. We know the rules. Im not sure who Bent Oak is trying to be with how they acted and treated people but they are not Blackthorn. Sheesh. We were just trying to enjoy a round of golf!

Had a 10:10 tee time, we were never pushed had to wait anywhere on the course. The course has a great layout and was fun to play

course nice shape been real hot and dry ,greens much than last year ,will be back
