Great Day to Play
Valley View has gone through an extensive renovation that has improved the course and toughened the ability to score. The full extent of the improvements are probably a year away when it should be exceptional. Only complaint was the fairways were being dethatched and made the fairways a bit messy to hit out of.
Not Very Good Now, But Give It Time
Following the course renovation, it still needs time to improve. The greens are rock hard and slow. The course will be much improved by this time next year, but for now, it is not a good value for the money.
As for the pace of play, not a ranger on the course and the foursome in front of our group was slow as molasses!
pretty good... but...
i have played this course a number of times over the years. as i understand it, the course had undergone significant renovations and i wanted to try it out.
the most significant changes were to the greens and green complexes. it appeared they had been completely redone. overall, i think the changes, over time, will be great. when i played; however, the greens, being new, were very inconsistent. full approach shots released long and chips and pitches stopped on a dime. the surfaces were super soft on the top layer of soil and hard underneath which produced many unexpected results.
Better
This course is a lot better since the recent changes to the course . You can tell they spent a lot of money in the right places on the course . Definitely will play again
Needs more time
This course is a good value at the hot rate, otherwise they are charging too much. Greens need another year to mature, but are not terrible. My biggest complaint is how close the tee boxes are to the previous green. Several times I had to watch the group behind me to make sure I didn't get hit. They are too close for the skill level this course attracts. We had a group of five walkers in front of us. The pro shop actually drove the fifth one out around the 3rd hole. This would unacceptable on a Saturday round.
Improving
Ratings will improve as the renovated course matures. Some areas are still uneven ground, thin grass, and they have lost a couple tee boxes on holes six. Rebuilt greens are good, but young.
Worth playing but will be better in another season or two.
Okay
This course went through a overhaul of the greens and they are still extremely firm. Staff is very friendly.
Playable
The new layout is very nice and they have added a lot of challenges to the course. You can't hit it anywhere you want to anymore and be fine. The new par five number 7 is a great addition and it makes for a very gettable birdie. Number 18 is totally revamped and doesn't even resemble the old hole and that's a very big improvement. It rewards long hitters like myself, because you'll have short irons or wedges into most greens even from the tips. However, the greens are not good. I hit the ball very high and I found that wedges would bounce and roll out 10-12 feet at times before settling. These same wedges hold or spin back at most courses. If you're going to play Valley this year before the greens become more playable, I'd recommend playing a club less onto every green or trying to play it low and run it up. Don't waste your time flag hunting, because you'll have a lot of tough chips back onto the green. Putting is fair. There's a few putts that simply don't break and the greens are a bit shaggy.
Overall the layout is wonderful, I look forward to playing next year on greens that allow for low scoring.
Good variety of hole layouts.
The course is still recovering from about a 1-2 million dollar upgrade. The fees have increased, but Golf Now allowed me to enjoy the cost at a very reasonable price. The greens are hard and don't hold and roll rather slow, probably need another year to mature. There is a woman's par 3 that is 195 yards which is impossible for about 90% of the women to reach. I wish they addressed this in their upgrade. Good variety of hole layouts, and fairways were in good shape.
Very Nice Course and Layout
The course has a nice layout. It challenges you on every hole. Long par 5s and par 3s. The greens and tee boxes are very hard ground. The course had recently been repaired and the course is still recovering. The greens were slower than most other courses I have played. This was my first time at the course and I will be back for sure.
Love the new greens
Course was always one that I enjoyed. I really think the new improvements on the greens were well planned and needed. Great job
Great shape after extensive renovation
Great layout, especially with renovation that yielded 19 new USGA greens, and extended the course to a par 72. Weather has helped the greens, in better shape than I would have expected. Great value, look forward to playing again very soon.
Awesome Newly Renovated Course!
Course was reopened in May and had completely changed....for the better. Greens, though new, role extremely true and have average speed. New part 7 is amazing with green sitting under two of the states largest oak trees. One of the best courses in the Falls City area. Lounge and golf staff are friendly and welcoming. Pace of play on a Saturday was under 4 hours. Great experience!
Quail Chase Country
This course has a wonderful country setting. The greens and tees are in good condition. The fairways being bermuda need some time to green up. The rye overseed from last year helps the play of the fairways. Once the fairways have the summer grow in, this course may well be a 4 star.
Valley View not ready
This course has been renovated with new greens and bunkers and a new par 5 7th hole. The new par 5 is a very good addition.
The greens are very shaggy making putting difficult. Some of the old fairways have been overseeded with Rye giving the course a better look. The old fairways were not renovated leaving golfers with the same old thin and flat bermuda grass.
The fees are high dollar with a senior weekday fee of $35. Weekend regular fees are over $50. Valley View may be recommended only if the fees were in line with the course conditions.
last round
this is the last time I will play this course since it is going to have major renovations in place before next spring, waiting to see what some of the changes will be
Good course, fairways could be better
Overall the course is a good play. Not overly difficult.
The fairways could use some much improvement but i'll play there again.
Enjoyable round
There were quite a few dead spots in the Bermuda, but the course played well. Greens were very nice. It is a very interesting course that requires a variety of shots.
Course is in Great Shape!
We played Valley View yesterday June 12th and had a fantastic experience
---- Played in 3:40 ...
---- One of the few courses with grass in fairways
---- Greens were soft/holding and still quick---greens
are in perfect condition
Overall a great day on the course at Valley View---We will definitely be back to play again
Valley view
Fairways a little burned up. Greens in good shape.
