Course conditions
The greens for being this late in the season were very well kept. The only trouble we had was the leaves on the tree lines hiding the golf ball. Very hard to find. Other then that fairways were good and cut perfect.
Leaves, leaves and more leaves
Great course to play and challenging. Like playing it. Just don't play in the fall.
Leaves on the course make it difficult , if not impossible, to find balls and slows down play
Layout is great, but the Fairways are not!
First time out this year at Wicker Park. Memories are great but today the course was not what we expected. The fairways were like the first cut of the rough. And the rough was extremely thick. Balls were hard to find and sometimes lost after.just rolling off the fairway. We know it rained a lot but to only see half your ball in the middle of the fairway is not fair. Will try them again next season.
Frustrating
It was raining but the course was open and workers said we couldn’t get a rain check because we booked through Golf Now. Workers were rude.
I tried calling golf now and was on hold for 15 minutes before I gave up. We tried to play in the rain for a while since we couldn’t get a refund but it sucked so we quit early.
Bad experience overall with the Course and Golf Now
6:30hr Round
Longest Round I have ever played. Everyone was on top of one another. Awful time.
Sand traps
I was disappointed with the sand traps. They had no sand and were hard mud.
Grass cut , but not picked up
I very disappointed with the fringe. The grass had been mowed but not collected. This made it difficult to play and many of my balls were lost.
Great course great staff
Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. The course is long and and is well kept. I wish it was closer to my house but worth the 45 min drive.
Backyard Golf
Everything about this golf course feels like it was a project built in someone’s backyard. Greens are the size of postage stamps, mowed to the same length as the fairways, and covered in goose poop. Bunkers are small odd shaped patches of sandbox sand dumped on top of the grass surrounded by a perimeter of weeds. They should be charging no more than 20 dollars for a round based on the conditions.
Staff was rude
Had a friend there that was his first time golfing. Im also not very good. One of the staff members came up to us before we could even finish the first hole and said maybe you guys belong on the range and not out here. Demanding to see our receipt and keeps talking down to us trying to get us to stop golfing
WORST TREATMENT received in 25+ yrs
Booked my tee time at LUNCHTIME for a 5:08 start arrived early & was CONTINUESLY told they're ONLINE service shouldn't of BOOKED me.... Called the other guy (MGR i suppose) over & he ONLY stated how he has to TALK to there online people to STOP booking after 5.... Drove 20 miles just to play & they NEVER even let me play ANY holes!!!!! ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!!!
Good course, lame policies
I liked the course, it's fun, a bit quirky, and was in mostly good shape. Will not go back.
When reserving, I went for 18 Walking. As I go to check in, the pro shop guy says I can't walk (but I prefer to walk) and that the cart rate is cheaper (don't care about cost). I ask him if I can pay whatever and still walk, and he tells me weekend carts "is how we've always done it" and "the course is packed." I told him a walking single would be the least of his pace of play worries, but the kept to his Indiana boomer course rule and I went out anyway. To zero shock, I spent the entire day sitting on my butt in their stupid golf cart when I could have had a nice walking day. Not a single group within 4 holes behind me. Give credit to the guys ahead - they got around in a very reasonable time, but what a boring day wasting golf cart gas when I could have happily walked this place.
