Very good golf
The front is in excellent condition and the back is very good condition I give the overall a 9.5 out of 10
It was hot
Front nine excellent-greens & fairways nice and will watered, which was necessary considering is was96%
Back nine more difficult-one very challenging water hole. Had some bad spots on fairways on back nine
First time there and not disappointed. There was some areas that needed work in the fairway, but every course I have played so far this year neededwork also. The staff was very friendly and helpful.I will be going back again..
Back nine in poor condition
The conditions on the front nine were fine, but the back nine was in terrible condition, particularly for this early in the season. There was little or no grass in many places on the fairways, and many areas were under repair and cordoned off. The condition of the turf on the back nine was the worst I have experienced anywhere.
Great place to play.
Highly recommend this course. Great place and friendly staff.
nine holes closed
Did not know the back nine was closed .Did not see that on golfnow site.
Best Back 9 Around....That includes Sultan's Run
The best god dang back nine around, hands down! Pay $23 here and save the extra money you would spend at Sultan's Run. Don't get me wrong. I played Sultan's and love that course. I can't spend $65 on a round though. Buffalo Trace is just as nice, and the back nine is worth it. You can play 36 holes and use the other $20 on beer and some food at a local German joint for what you would pay at Sultan's. Pace was awesome. Just go and enjoy it on a weekday.
Fun course
I must say Buffalo Trace staff has really gotten better. The last few times I played there the workers have been extremely friendly. In previous years this was not the case. The back nine is one of my all time favorite stretches of golf. Keeps me coming back. I shot a modest 77 Friday and I couldn't make a putt to save my life. The greens roll nicely.
Challenging course, the staff was very rude!!!
The first person that I talked to was very rude while signing in for my tee time. On the first green a staff member began to water the green while we were putting. On the second tee another staff member watched us from behind a tree I asked him what he was doing I received no reply. While on the fairway of hole number two another staff member came to make sure we only had four golfers all though there was five of us one person could not golf and was just enjoying to be out of the house after we explained our selfs a few times the staff member said have a nice day. I felt like they were looking for anything to kick us out to be honest.
The course it's self was nice if you can stay in the fairway, the rough was extra thick. The back nine were very challenging. I had a good experience but the staff was very rude.
If I had known ahead ahead of time...
The course only had the front 9 open and you could play it twice to get your 18 holes. This should have been included in the information about the course.
Best fairways
Top notch condition on front nine. Not bad on back nine.Back very challenging.Overall great course.
Management Absent
Have played course many times, but issues always the same. Management is non-existent. No Rangers to help keep pace of play. No response to players complaints. Unable to handle volume during busy times because of chronic under staffing. Many times weekend play is limited because of endless scrambles accommodating special interests rather than the regular golfing public. Of course, these scramble golfers know nothing of how to keep a course in good shape, so after the scramble is over, the greens are in horrible shape, and little is done to improve the situation.
course review
The course was in excellent shape. The fairways were great.
The Tale of Two Sides
Arrived at the course and it did not seem to be very crowded. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This was one of the first Golf Now transactions they have had, but it went very well.
My wife and I played as a two-some. There were several groups in front of us, so play was a little slow. It was, however, a Holiday weekend. I would not expect this to be the norm.
The front nine was in great shape. Zoysia fairways and Bermuda greens. Great hitting surface and greens have a lot of grain to them. They can be challenging to putt, especially if one is used to bent grass. Nice layout on front with elevation changes and dog legs.
The back side is a different story. Fairways are wood lined and very hilly. Lots of blind shots and layups required. Driver is not required on the back and is likely a bad idea unless you have full control of it. Fairways are not in good shape. I don't know if the back is newer and has not had time to mature or if the tress are causing too much shade for the Zoysia to grow. Lots of bare spots. Greens however, are in good shape and similar to the front side. A sky caddie comes in handy for finding the layups. There are a couple of holes you really need to consider where you put the ball.
Overall, nice layout, nice layout, good price. I would play it again and likely will. Hopefully the back side will come in because there are some really bad spots.
Challenging but fun course.
Great course. Keep to the fairways and you'll be fine, but the rough is super thick. Back 9 can be very challenging. Greens were in great shape as was the rest of the course. Would definitely recommend this course to others.
The greens are bent not Bermuda.
