Very good golf
The front is in excellent condition and the back is very good condition I give the overall a 9.5 out of 10
Great
We picked a terrible day to golf, but the course was in good shape, and the staff were great
Excellent
Course was in excellent shape for this time of the year. Greens held and rolled true. Fairways were in excellent condition and the rough wasn’t overly thick. Great experience for a 20.99 Hot Deal!!
Buffalo Trace
Course is in perfect shape. Both 9 holes seem like playing two different course. Absolutely love the course
Great course!
The front and back play like completely different courses. Be ready for a challenge on the back 9. Course was in great shape and a lot of fun!
On vacation
Great course even better if you consider the price. Highly recommend
Course was great, challenging. Pace of play was horrible.
The course was great. The front and the back play as two completely different 9’s and provide unique challenges and scoring opportunities. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Some of the regulars gave me a hard time about playing quickly. I was alone and behind 2 groups of 3 older gentleman. I was told by the group immediately in front of me “if we let you play through, they (the group in front of them” won’t. So you might as well slow down.”
A surprising find in Jasper
Our buddies' group was pleasantly surprised with Buffalo Trace golf course. This muni is in fine condition with a challenging layout (especially the back 9), friendly staff members, and all at a reasonable price. The course is very busy so expect a lengthy round, but enjoy the rolling hills and scenic terrain as you wait.
Pace of play
There should never be a time on a course that you allow 6 players to play together. The group that was there that day held up everyone behind them.
Course maintenance
For the middle of May the course was an excellent condition.
They have removed trees to open up the course visually and functionally.
A little bit of both worlds
Front nine Being the older, of the course, is an excellent condition. Back nine needs a couple more years to get in better condition. Once the fairways, fill in
Not a bad value
French Lick Dye & Ross, Sultan's Run and Christmas Lake are much better courses but for the price, it's a good course for beginners and budget minded golfers. I liked the front much better than the back. Front was more open with an old school park like feel to it. The back 9 was in rougher condition and had design flaws due to limited space it seemed. The tunnel to 10 was cool but again that tight back 9. When in Jasper again, Sultan's Run is the best place to go for a golf experience. Buffalo Trace is a no frills but decent city course.
Very Good Municipal Course
The course was built in two phases with the front 9 built in the 70s by Bill Newcomb and the back @ built in the 99s by the Gary Kern. Hilly does not do this course justice. The front 9 is hilly, the back 9 is wild and was a blast to play.
The layout uses the wild terrain well and the greens are modern with plenty of undulation. The course conditions were good on the front and below average on the back. One of my favorite courses in the Hoosier State.
