TAMECA WOODS
course was in fairly good condition, with some challenging holes.
A GREAT CHALLENGE
Tameka is a challenging course. It could use a little TLC. The rough was treacherous and needed to be mowed. Over all it was a good round. Going back to play again tomorrow.
Diamond in the rough
Great course to have a more informal golf experience. The new sand helps a lot. Three of the most interesting/difficult holes I've played in Indiana. For the price, check it out!
Challenge
A little rough, but pretty Challenging. Hole #9 was a real challenge. On the whole, I enjoyed playing the course. It was so hot, we couldn't finish all of it, but would like to go back when not quite so humid.
Mow mow mow
Visited the course for the first time. The course has a nice layout and very scenic. The biggest problem is the lack of upkeep. The weather has been very wet lately but the sand traps look as if they have not had sand in them or groomed in years. My golf cart e brake did not work forcing me to park on level ground as much as possible. Overall I liked the course but it has so much more potential with a little bit of maintenance.
Nice Course
I love the layout of this course. It's not the best on upkeep, but for a 2-3 times a year hacker like myself, it's a fun and challenging course. 13 is a tough par 3 with an over the water shot from tee to green. Love the uphill over the creek shot on 9 to the green. Some water some trees, but lots of wide open spaces too. Staff is very friendly and price is very reasonable.
Trip
It was a fun course to practice on. The fairways and tee box's are the only problem at this course. The greens were slow but very well maintained. The staff was friendly and even took time to explain some holes on the course.
Decent course
As a beginner I enjoyed the challenge of this course. The course could be maintained better. Bunkers have no sand, grass could be better
Nice country course at a good price
I really liked this course. Its out in the country in a peaceful setting. There are only two holes on a road and only one or two houses in sight the whole time you're on the course. The greens were in fantastic shape when I played. The fairways were not bad either, just not as nice as the greens. It is a Links course as advertised, so don't be surprised by some thick rough. I'm not a great golfer by any stretch but I didn't think the actual links style rough really came into play that much. If you can keep it inside the first cut, you'll be fine.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. One last thing, the wood carvings (chain saw?) are a nice touch and add character (you may want to bring a camera).
GREAT POTENTIAL
I personally love the course layout and just wish it would receive some needed attention requiring the investment of a repaving of the cart paths and some fresh sand in the bunkers. It's always a nice quick round and the employees are always friendly.
Tough course today
Rough was high just off fairway made finding balls tough. Greens slower than what we're used too. But we enjoyed the challenge and price and will be back.
Exceptional value
We caught a deal here and made the 40 minute drive. For the price, we expected a rough time, but it was kept up well! Not exclusive club level, but certainly serviceable for the price. The placement of the ball was important, as the rough was truly rough. Good value for the money!
Needs Work
Can't complain because I got a real good deal but the course is not in the best shape....nor are their golf carts. The sand traps have to be played as a free drop because they are not playable. The rough is full of clover which makes it hard to find your ball. The greens were in awesome shape as were the fairways. A little work and this could be a top value course in the Indy area.
Nice
I was fairly happy with the course, it just rained ccourse was a little flooded.
A great course is only made better with great customer service
Being a native Floridian this was the first course I was able to play in Indiana and couldn't have asked for a better course experience. Super friendly staff adds to the charm
Challenging Course that needs some TLC
Tameka Woods is a challenging course, especially hole #9. Probably one of the hardest holes I have ever played. The course is enjoyable and can be difficult at times. It does need a little TLC in certain places. Overall, if you play here, you will have fun.
Mowing crew rude like golfers in there way.
My second shot on the first hole was in the right rough not bad 100 yard shot in got ready to make my shot and heard the gang mower coming it passed 5 foot from me never slowing or stopping right into my line so I waited till he was out of the way to make my shot the weird part 1/2 way back to where I was he stopped to take a break but wouldn't stop for me like most courses would have done. So day didn't start off great. Kept playing got to the 12th hole another mower was working a small area in a dogleg he never once looked to see if anyone was on the tee and because I had played there before I knew where he was could easily be in play waited 5 minutes or more never did he check to see tee so I hit and only as I passed him did he even realize I was even there.
The final straw was I hadn't had anyone in front of me all day or behind me for that matter now there's a foursome teeing off on 13 right in front of me. I have seen a lot of this on this course before people just going anywhere with no reguard to anyone else. Lessen learned places don't change. I left the course without finishing. Not worth the frustration.
I know that Jim and Steve have always been cordial and friendly but they need to train there crews.
