Great layout
It was a bit chilli so not a lot of golfers so we never had to wait. Great course. Layout and great shape
All this course needs to be the best course in northern Indiana, is to put some sand in the sand traps. All the bunkers I saw. Yesterday and last fall were either filled with water or just mud.
Nice Course
This was my first time playing this course. The weather was overcast, about 46°, with winds out of the W/NW between 10 and 15 mph. The overall condition of the course, being this time of year, was actually pretty good. The course was exceptionally dry compared to other courses around this area. The tee boxes were a little beat up but that's to be expected at this time of year. The greens were recently aerated and covered with sand but still playable. I really like how many hills are on this course as well as the water hazards. It's somewhat similar to Forest Park, also in Valpo. My friend golfing with me likened it to a couple courses in Michigan. He went on all day about how nice a course it was!! Can't wait to see this course when everything greens up this spring!! We'll be back!!
Solid course. Lots of fun tees
While you can look at the total distances and think this course is long, the tee boxes offer a solid challenge that restricts a players ability to pull driver. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Offer useful pre-round information. The concessions at the turn were prompt and never would have caused a back up in play.
Great course, pace of play was extremely slow
Me and my buddy had a tee time at 1PM. From the first tee, we waited at least 10-15 on every tee box. Other than pace of play, course is in mid-season condition.
Course conditions
Aberdeen was a premier golf course in Valpo years ago. They need to redo all of the tees by leveling them out and reseeding them. Some of them are completely shaded in which grass won’t grow. Almost all of them are humpbacked. Some of the tees are completely destroyed. Some we had to hit off the dirt. There also needs to be some trees that need to be cut down because it affects the tee shots. The trees I’m talking about are close to the tees itself. The rest of the course is well maintained. The greens are fast and roll true! Fairways were also in great shape.
Wet conditions
Course layout was fair. Started from gold tees. Moved to green on back nine. Many fairways and greens were wet and spongy.
Tee boxes.
Many of the tee boxes were chewed up and many have a slope or ‘hump’’ to them. This course use to be one you get up for, now it’s still good but not what it once was. The pace of play was atrocious and never saw a ranger to get things moving.
The greens and fairways were excellent and will continue to play there.
Country Club feel for Muni price
Aberdeen is a real value. Great practice facilities, wonderful club house, friendly staff. Course is nice.
Hidden Gem
Very nice golf course. A little bit of a drive from Chicago but well worth it. Sand in the bunker can be improved other than that course is in great shape.
