A fun, fair course with beautiful scenery.
I've been golfing at Grand Oak for years, and I have never been more impressed with it. It has a matured into a work of art and is almost perfectly maintained. It is challenging. It gives you opportunities to bomb your drives but more frequently rewards a shorter more accurate shot. You will get some sidehill lies but the course's excellent grooming makes these more playable than they otherwise would be. It's just a fun place to play whether you're a two or twenty handicapper. NOTE: The course is very hard and long from the Women's tee.
Great staff and beautiful course
The staff was very friendly and courteous; the course was in great shape.
Great course and never busy
The course had a good layout, it is maintained and is never really busy. It is worth the 15 minute drive out of the "city".
Hidden gem
i live in northern KY about 30 mins from course.... just recently found this course had heard about it for a while and i've been back at least twice a week since .... great course great conditions and typically very fluent pace of play.... instantly became one of my fav's of the tristate.... a must play
Nice course
Majority of the holes are up or down hills. Course was well maintaned.
Go enjoy this course!!
From the start, be greeted with a smile by Mark in the pro shop.
After leaving hole 1, it was like playing in a nature reserve; I saw deer and turkeys while I played, and it felt as if I was alone in the woods. What a tranquil setting for a golf course!
This was my first time here, so for me there was a lot of unknowns, as there are a lot of blind shots here. If you've never played here, ride up and take a look before you hit.
The greens are a bit on the slow side, and as mentioned, the cart paths are very rough. I didn't take this as a negative, and you shouldn't either - slow down and enjoy this jewel!!
The course was in excellent shape. The person at the check in desk was very friendly. Ready to go back for another round.

Hidden Jim
Have played numerous courses in Dayton area, Cincy, and lots in Myrtle Beach. This is a beautiful course. It is very challenging. typically shoot around bogey golf and I struggled on this course. Having said that, I loved the course and it's character. The only negative was the cart paths but I can live with that. If you want something different, challenging and beautiful, this is the corse for you. Very reasonable fees too.
Very pleased with this course
Grand Oaks was a challenging course but had a good mix of difficulty and potential to score well. This course requires good accuracy and the potential to get in trouble is on a lot of holes but I did not find it overwhelming. It is a hilly course with the occasional blind shot but once again nothing excessive in my opinion. I (and the rest of my foursome) greatly enjoyed playing here and plan to come back in the future. The one complaint I would have is the cart paths were rather beat up and tough to drive on which made some of the steep declines tough to handle. Other then that the course was well maintained.
Great little course
Some quite challenging holes but overall nicely geared for 20 handicapper like me. Still able to reach most greens in regulation. Some very unique hole designs. Bargain rate of $12 with cart! Excellent time with son.
.a real find!!
A great golf course, wish we had something this nice near chicago. Great combination of holes and hills. went to the masters this year and the terrain if very similar, up and down long tightly guarded tree lined fairways. can't wait to play it agian
very hilly do not walk!!!
it is a beautiful setting the fairways were in great shape in spite of all the rain, the greens were in need of serious attention due to a lot of disease in them but they still rolled ok
Hills and more hills
If you like courses that go up and down hill, with an abundance of blind shots, you may want to try out Grand Oak, but forget about walking you have to use a cart. This is a difficult course with huge elevation changes often on the same hole (down, up and down again) with woods and water lining many fairways and surrounding many greens. Hire a fore caddy if you cannot hit the ball straight, and even then it is important to drive ahead of each shot so you can see where you have to hit the ball or you will be walking up and down steep hills and spending time looking for your ball. The greens were very slow, which took some time to get used to, but this could be because it was early in the season. This is a very pretty course with great views, so it is worth playing at least once and then you can decided if you will want to return.
Excellent layout (minus 2 holes) - Beautiful piece of land
Great course with numerous beautifully designed holes. (There are two holes that are not - 3 & 5 - you'll understand when you play them) But other than that an outstanding hidden gem on a utterly beautiful piece of property. Worth the drive out to west Harrison.
Nice quiet course
Course in good shape. Nice layout. Will definately be back.
Great Course for Average and Experienced golfers.
Played this course with my sister and brother-in-law who are both beginner golfers. Both shot 100+ for 18 holes. Difficulty lies in the slope of the course as there are very few flat lies. I hold a 3 handicap and shot 80. Grass was not cut yet due to season and lost a few balls in the high stuff or plugged due to wet. Over all good round with very few players on the course that day. At best you should give this course a try once since it is kinda a hidden gem.
One of my favorite courses to play
Can always get good deal for this course on GolfNow. Great staff and the most beautiful course in the area.
Great place to play
Grand Oaks is one of my preferred courses. Always in very good condition and the staff is friendly. I look forward to playing there many more times.
This course has character
I cannot give a fair assessment of the course conditions for this trip due to the fact there was a lot of rain the night before The course layout is intetesting with several blind tee offs and some impressive scenery. The 11th hole offers the signature grand oak tree guarding the green on your approach shot. If I have a complaint it would be the google map directions. They send you an exit further than you need to go
Mid december, golf in the midwest, can't beat it. course in good shape considering the summer we had, and the amount of recent rain.
did a summary, why do a review with same words here??????
