Picked a course from golf now
Quite a nice course. Quite informal but that was great.
Leave the Driver at Home
This is a classic-style, very short course. You can use your driver, but why? Fairways are narrow - take a batting helmet if it's busy. I sprayed a few into adjacent fairways, tee boxes, and next to a green at one point. Thankfully I didn't hook one into the adjacent prison wall.
The greens are the smallest I've seen in a long time, and they all have domed edges, making them even smaller. They are in good shape and roll true, though some of the edges need work. They're just really tiny.
The rest of the course was ok. Nothing exciting about it, other than it's an old-school design with some elevation change which you don't see much of around here. I liked the 8th and 18th holes. #2 (see photo) is a par 3 that you have to hit over trees to get to the green, which was... unique. Thankfully the trees are trimmed and it's only 100 yards. #11 is goofy too, as they clearly turned the former fairway into the driving range and made it a par 3 (9, 10, 11 are all par 3's). Do not miss #17 long. Don't miss #10 long or you'll hit the driving range tee box.
If you want to practice your iron game, or are just learning to play this isn't a bad place, especially if you can get on cheap. Just don't expect to be blown away by it.
Got rained out but will go back.
We got rained out but the course and GolfNow were great about refunding our money. I've played there before and love the course layout and the friendly staff in the pro shop.
Not golfer friendly for African Americans
This is the very first time in 35 years of playing golf that I have not felt welcome on a golf course from other players. It was a very uncomfortable feeling. I was the only African American on the course and I guess for good reason. I truly enjoyed the course but will not return.
Tight little course
The course is relatively open, some sand, with large trees bordering the fairways, but usually don't come into play. the course zig zags back and forth and is a little confusing going between holes the first time. many of the greens are blind from the tee and they have false fronts so keeping the ball on the green is part of the challenge.
The biggest complaint is that the course would be very slow on a busy day with balls being played from adjacent fairways. It was a fun course and I will play it again, just not on the weekend or when it is busy.
Well maintained, friendly staff
The course is in great shape. Interesting and challenging holes mixed in with straight and seemingly easy holes, but watch out for the trees! Excellent value. My family will go back.
Overall condition good
The greens was hard and slow. But excellent price I paid for 18 holes with a cart
Inconsiderate Golfers
The golfers on this course know nothing about golf etiquette. I was playing alone. The three golfers in front would not let me play thru and the two golfers behind me kept teeing off before I was out of range. I was almost hit once by them and my cart was hit another time by them. At no point did they yell fore to warn me and my back was to them on both occasions. Reporting this to course management resolved nothing. I will not be returning to this course.
fun course
Would play again and love all the hills, the course was in great shape
Great course for the value
Small greens but fairly easy. In good shape. Great overall value-- you can't beat this price and our pace of play was excellent. Course is a bargain with easy access. Provides a great tune up for the average player who is just trying to work on his game.
Decent Value
Good place for a cheap round of golf to get your fix in, but could use a little more TLC. Very short, and very few hazards. Good course for my beginner wife to play.
Nice course to play in less than 4 hours
I really enjoy this course. Alot of variety, some flat holes, some very hilly. Holes 8 & 18 are long par 4s at over 400 yards each for the men. Several par 4s are about 300 yards, so a good variety. Small greens make approach shots require precision. GPS doesn't work for some reason on 2 of the par 5s that run toward the prison. Great staff.
interesting layout
Played fast. Got rained out on hole 17. Would definitely try it again.
Prison golf
Love the course, dont like the change on 11. Great value.
Narrow
Holes are narrow and run side by side. Easy for people who slice, can get back in play. During our play there were very few people playing. I'd hate to see this place packed. Great course for beginners. Every hole is a straight shot.
Excellent golf course
Have played this course a few times. It is a good course for someone who is just learning and ready to get out on and 18 hole course for the first time. My daughter has been playing for four years now and the course is a challenge for her, but yet is easy enough that it builds her confidence. It took us about three and a half hours to complete and 18 hole round with cart, including a 20 minute rain delay. With all of the rain we have had the course was green and lush. The grounds crew does an excellent job in maintaining the course.
Can't beat a $13 round in good condition
I've played Fall Creek golf club a few times but still get a little lost from green to next tee on some holes. Overall, the course is in great shape. Greens are small and well maintained. Fairways are in good condition but in need of mowing when I was there. Not a long course but great for some practice and confidence boost. The $13 ($10 green fee plus $3 taxes and fee) rate on Golf Now was an exceptional value. The holes are close together. The scorecard map for No. 11 still shows it as a par 4, which is now the driving range. I had to drive around a bit to find it as a par 3 beyond the driving range. A sign would have helped to guide me. I would recommend the course at the discounted rate I found. I would probably not play it at the normal rack rate.
Fun Course
The course isn't very long, but it is fun and provides some challenges. I don't think I have every played a par 3 where there are large trees in front of the green. That was interesting.
