Rustic Golf Course
Nice 9 hole golf course in a fairly remote location in the country. The course is well taken care of. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The price of play is a bargain. They also have a great dining facility with good food and menu choices. I would recommend this course to anyone. You will be pleasantly surprised.
Not much.
Wanted to stay close to home on an extremely hot Saturday, so got a 9 hole round on Golf Now for $5. Not sure $5 is a bargain to play here, conditions are rough at best, and would have been better to drive a few more miles and play a real course for a few bucks more. Fairways are crabgrass and other weeds for the most part, hard as a rock, and not very thought out as far as the layout. Couldn't get a tee in the ground on about 3 of the holes, and in some areas the cart path gravel is rutted so bad, you can barely make it up the hill. If this was the only course available to play, I would probably take up a different hobby.
Nice staff, good value
The course was very rough - no real fairways. However, the staff was out mowing in full force that afternoon. Good pace of play. The restaurant had good food and the staff was friendly. Great value through golfnow. Family-friendly course and good for beginners.
Can't beat it
I played 9 holes because I only had a couple hours to get in some golf. Well worth the cost to play. If the greens were in better shape this course would be awesome for average golfers. Still a great deal for $5!
Needs improvement
I paid for 18 and maybe played 13. The course is in really rough shape (4/15/16). Nothing is up to par (greens, fairways, tee-boxes, etc...). I lost multiple balls in the fairway, and also ones that had no cushion to stop after hitting the mid-front of the green. The layout of the course has the potential to help the course become respectable. The management just needs to keep it simple by focusing on one aspect of the course only, and then making that aspect excellent; the fairways.
course need work
There is only actual fairways on 2 holes. The rest of the time it looks like my back yard everywhere. The greens are in dire need of repair. Sandy spots and long deep sand filled gashes from improper green cutting cover 4 of the 9 greens. There are no cart paths for holes 5, 6, 7 and 9 either which didnt help me because I'd never be here. The only good thing about this course is its short. I paid $11 for the 18 and left feeling like I still paid too much. Might be fun for an inexperienced golfer but I dont see myself returning. The staff was very polite though.
Sunday afternoon at the Rustic
Course was in very good condition and the pace of play was smooth - didn't wait a hole.
Great Course
This is a great 9 hole course. The greens are tour quality grass and smaller than most. Great layout risk/reward. Several greens are turtle-back, so you must be accurate. I played 18. First 5 holes in heavy drizzle rainfall and light mist on last four. After 30 minute respite in the lounge, rain stopped and I played second nine. Got halfway through last hole when rains returned. The owner, Larry Gee, is a great guy and his staff are very attentive. Super value too. I will come back when I am in the area.
Only one factor
The course was in great shape. Food was excellent and staff was very very friendly. Only problem was the course had a scramble going on and was closed to public, GolfNow failed to let us know that. The Rustic was nice enough to let us eat the buffet and drink on patio, and hit free range balls, but we had wait 2 hours. If GolfNow could communicate with course and be aware of scrambles and such, it would have been better. But I do love GolfNow! Greatest app ever and I'll be back to the Rustic
Very poor
The people were nice, but this course is a goat ranch. Greens were in bad shape and fairways are weeds. Small greens, and quite a few blind shots. I will not go back.
Good for the money
Good course. Not for faint of heart. High rolling hills with moderately deep valleys make for interesting and challenging play.
Good short course
Play on 3/15/13 greens looked like they were just a few weeks from being season ready. Short but interesting. Lots of blind shots. Tiny greens, friendly people with a nice club house with great food. $25 is as much as I'd pay to play this course. It's a membership club, pretty cheap to join, plus you even get cheaper beer and food, with membership. I liked it but probably not enough to join. 9 holes and small uninteresting greens, just not enough to keep my attention.
