Great course for the beginner like myself. I have played the course 15 times this year so far. The season pass is by far the best value in the area. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Perfect Course to Grow the Game
Solid execute muni to grow the game. Greens are tiny and several are built up and appear original.
Great learning course
If your goal is to learn the sport by all means play this course, but walk it! Not worth taking the cart. I still enjoyed the course nonetheless.
Hello. We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. We would love to know how we can earn those last two stars next time! Thanks for playing Studebaker Municipal Golf Course.
Great cheap course
Easy 9 holes. Very affordable easy course for beginners to learn the game.
Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Studebaker Municipal Golf Course.
Excellent learning course
I picked up golf again this season after 10+ years of not playing. I purchased the season pass. I play 9-18 holes a around 3-5 times per week.
The course is great in some spots and not so good in others. Tee boxes are worn out and a few of them are almost entirely dirt in spots. The fairways can be narrow in some spots (10 feet or so across), so you end up playing a lot of rough, even if you bomb it down the middle). No bunkers to speak of. Greens are in good condition generally speaking. All the issues are created by other golfers, at no fault of the greenskeepers. Ball marks and divots are on almost every green.
The staff are generally friendly. My biggest complaint by far is the mowing schedule. I play most mornings somewhere between 7:30-8. I end up waiting for groundskeepers to finish mowing on tee boxes or move from the fairway. Most memorably, I was playing on a Sunday around 11:30 in the morning and they were mowing the fairway of hole 1, which just seems like extremely poor planning on their part. 6-7 people were waiting to tee off, and one person left the course. You will encounter mowing seemingly at all hours, every day, which seems improbably considering the course is a very short 9 hole, clocking in at 1,898 yards. I can’t recall ever seeing this many mowers at any other course I have played at.
Lastly, the kids program is fantastic. They do sort of take over the course when they go out to play, but that’s okay. They are all supervised by someone from the program and will make sure you are terribly slowed up. You’ll see then practicing, or doing a drill and sometimes you might have to skip a hole if you are trying to keep pace up. You can always just circle back. The kids seem to have fun and enjoy it. Watching them play is entertaining in and of itself as well.
In summary, it’s a great course to practice the basics that comes with some faults. You get a lot of time with your irons. I’ve enjoyed by time out there this season and will be returning next season.
Great for practice
This course is not your typical par 3 course! Lots of challenging narrow, tree lined fairways. Challenging and always in great condition!
Practice with a friend
Great little course for beginners or practice. It is in great condition and staff always friendly. Rough a bit long, but with rain probably hard to keep up.
Nice For a Quick Nine Holes
Pace of play was fine. Leaves could have better cleaned up on number 8. Easy to walk
Nice For a Quick Nine Holes
Very nice historic course. Two par fours and the rest are par threes. Easily walkable. Weekends can be a little busy and slow pace of play. Great course for beginners
You can't beat the price
This is the oldest municipal course in the city. I had the course to myself for most of the round. Enjoyable time at an extremely affordable price.
uncooperative
I reserved my tee time with GolfNow and the price included a cart and I brought my wife expecting to have a cart. When I got there and checked in the lady running the desk refused to honor the deal on GolfNow. It was only nine holes but we were without a cart. The lady was not friendly whatsoever. Other than that the course was good for the money I spent.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We appreciate your feedback and apologize if the experience with the cart did not meet your expectations. We're glad to hear that you still enjoyed the course.
