Wish the pins were moved midday when high play
A buddy and I made our first trip to Dub's Dread. This was a course we were looking forward to playing. Our only complaint was that right out the gate on the very first green the foot marks were TERRIBLE around
d the pin placement! This continued throughout the round. The rest of the green where there wasn't as much foot traffic they looked fairly good. It appears this course gets a lot of play on the weekend. What would be a suggestion would be to possibly move the pins midday when the traffic is high. We played with 2 other guys that had played here before and didn't remember the greens being the way they were. It greatly affected all our putts the entire day. This was our only disappointment with the entire round. Really enjoyed the course and the challenges. It was green and fairways were in good shape. If they choose not to consider moving the pins then we would recommend playing earlier in the day or not after noon on a weekend.
Great Value
This round was a great value. Course in great condition. Clubhouse immaculate., Staff very friendly.
Modern Carts with GPS. Only complaint was pace of play, We seemed to be pushed along by the marshals. Be prepared course plays long.
What a great experience!
I just want to say “wow” about my experience. I had an outstanding time on my first adventure at Dub’s Dread. From the time I pulled up and went in the clubhouse, I could tell that this place was special. I feel like most people that golf can objectively agree that a lot of people that play golf and work for golf courses just aren’t really that friendly or jovial nor do they typically have any real redeeming social qualities at all. That is one of the first things that sets Dub’s apart. As I walked in there were people laughing and joking throughout the clubhouse. There were many people socializing over beers. There were some youngsters trying out putters hitting balls every which way through the room and the staff smiled at me and greeted my warmly. It was all just so—charming.
The next thing that was really cool was the carts! They have GPS’ that tells you exactly how far you are from anywhere on the course. They have robust sound systems and Sun shades and coolers and are stocked with tees (it’s the little things).
The course itself was beautiful. It was 100 degrees or so but everything looked great still. The greens and tee boxes were really well maintained as well as the sand traps that I love spending lots of time in!
Overall, this was an excellent first experience. I will for sure go back. The price was super reasonable for the experience and honestly just being around people that were happy to be there that weren’t your average, smug,, elitist golfers was a breath of fresh air. I mean come on—how can you be so mad? We are out here enjoying golf instead of working! What can be better than a day of golfing? And what better place to do it than Dub’s Dread?
Great shape.
Course was in great shape even in the heat. Would be better if golfers actually repaired their divot marks on the greens.
Dubs Review
Course is in great shape. Greens are good. Bunkers are terrible. Dirt and no sand. Fix those and I would give 5 stars
Dubs July 22
The course is in good shape both fairways and greens. Got caught up behind 2 5-some who didn’t let us play through (2 of us) and simply ignored us. Tee time was 10:50. it was ridiculous with at least 2 full holes open ahead of them on just the back. Next time I will call and find out if they are letting any groups of 5 out within an hour of my tee time. No Marshalls to speed them up either.
Course in good shape
I read some comments and I think others are a bit picky. I play a number of courses and Dubs is the best shape so far in this hot weather. Half the others are dry. I saw many maintenance guys working hard here and you can tell they have been. I will be coming back in a couple weeks because this is a challenging course and will make my game better. I played in a threesome and we played in 4 hours and 5 minutes starting at 7:50am so a good pace of play. Most ball marks had been repaired and did not affect putting. These are tough greens and I like them. A good day even though it got hot by noon.
Tough course
Course was in good shape. Slow play, until marshals sped it up. Rough is really thick and greens were fast. Tough course
Good Value for the money
some of the greens were a bit beat up from too many people not repairing their ball marks :(...but the course is otherwise a great value and worth playing...
Great course but some issues
We loved the course but there were some issues. The greens were in bad shape on most holes. The ground crew was totally oblivious to us playing golf. We played up to someone watering the green and he did not stop until we were on the green. Lawnmowers seemed to follow us. They were courteous but we asked them to go elsewhere and they did not. Lastly, we asked for Boulevard Pale Ale at the clubhouse and they were out. How do you run out? Regardless, we did have a good time so I would recommend this course.
Dubs
Greens had several spots on them from ball marks but they were fast and smooth. Fairways good.
Great course
Great track from the tee box to the greens. Trees, tall rough and Quick greens make it a fun course. Play able by everyone.
