One of the better country clubs in Iowa

If you have an opportunity to play here, take it. It's not only one of the better country clubs in Eastern Iowa, it's also a really fun track.

All the par 5s are challenging and you can make a big number, but you can also make eagle on all of them as well. There is a ton of elevation to the course, and there are several doglegs. There are water hazards and woods all over the place.

You can certainly walk the course, but there are a few holes where it's going to take its toll on you. To give you an idea, there's actually a lift to take you from the No. 6 green to the No. 7 tee for players who walk. There are a couple places where you will have to walk up and down those hill drops.

There are a lot of penalty strokes on the course between water hazards, woods and OB. It's not a long course, but you have to hit it relatively straight and accurate, which obviously ins't surprising for a country club course.

There are several holes that could be deemed the signature hole, but it has to be No. 14 - a par 4 where you hit a long iron off the tee, and your second shot will be a straight drop off to a small green at the bottom of the hill. If you hit your tee shot too far, you'll be in the ditch and likely unplayable. If you don't hit your shot far enough, you'll be blind to the green for your second shot and have a mid-iron in. You can try and bomb a driver down the hill and over the ditch, but it has to be downwind and you must be a big hitter (likely need some luck too). Woods surround the hole on both sides for your tee shot.

The staff is welcoming, and the club pro is very nice. I've played here about five times and always had a good experience. Conditions of the course have been great whether it's been in the Spring or Summer.
