Nice course!
I thought the tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in five star condition. Loved the layout of the course, and even the trip around the cart path in there super nice carts was a blast! The bunkers aren't groomed so I just raked me a little spot and played out just fine.
Deer Creek on fleek
This course is well maintained. Nice fairways, greens were a little slow, but very consistent. This course is fairly difficult, gonna have to bring my A game next time.
Great course but needs love
The course is challenging and fun but the bunkers need love and the marshal needs some lessons in golf etiquette and general manners.. the guy ruined my nice birdie because he was yelling at a group of young guys....also the ball washers were missing so bring a wet rag on days where its muddy...The greens are great and fast and overall we expect the course to get in better condition..
So sad how poorly maintained
I have played many rounds over the years at Deer Creek. It is so sad to see how poorly maintained this golf course now is. Over grown weeds and bushes impede your swing on tee boxes. No sand in the bunkers, and standing water on the course. Which is odd as it hasn’t rained in 6 or 7 days. Also the lack of grass in parts of the fairway and near the greens makes this course not worth the money.
Great price if you play later!
I’ve always heard great things about Deer Creek. It was a challenging course, ended up shooting pretty well. Towards the end of my round I reached a slower foursome from a league. They ended up slowing play down to where it was slightly stacked. I wish marshals were out urging players to play ready golf.
The course is definitely a challenge for all. It has sand, water, trees and some narrow fairways. The greens are large and in excellent condition.
Where is the sand?
Deer Creek is a great course - fun, tough lay-out. Lots of trees and water carries. The only knock is that of what has to be close to 100 bunkers on the course, none of them have any sand. They are like mud pits. I have the same knock on Prairie Highlands - all mud and no sand. Great Life needs to fix this to keep these courses at the top of the KC must play list.
Nice course and layout
Deer creek is a very nicely designed course, with rolling hills, treed fairways, and well bunkered greens. The fairways were in great condition and the greens, while looking alittle beat up, rolled nice. The staff acted as if you were intruding on their turf, less than pleasant to say the least. But if you can get past that, it would be a course I’d definitely recommend.
Nice couse, but...
Deer Creek is a nice track, however I likely won't go back. The rough, fairways, water hazards, and greens were in pretty good shape. The problem is the sand traps. I know maintaining a golf course is expensive but if running a golf course is what you want to do then run it completely. The bunkers are ridiculous. They were completely unmaintained. Weeds growing in them. Unranked. Mostly unplayable. The starter told us to just play it like a ground under repair situation, but if that's the case, then lower the course rating. The bottom line is that it could be a nice municipal course. But as is with those sand traps, it really is a poor example of a golf course. Too bad.
Very Nice Course
Deer Creek is a very nice course. Interesting layout and beautiful setting. Sand traps need work and it would be nice if they had a practice range.
Challenging course
Very tight tee shot for a short course. Unfortunately, they decided to airiat the greens before a holiday weekend
If you reserve DC on golfnow be sure to bring a confirmation
Booked the tee time with GolfNow even though I called before and they told me Deer Creek was now a PRIVATE course. When i show up for my tee time to check in, the attendant asked if I was a Great Life member, I am not. He informed me one of my group must be a Great Life member in order to play but none of us were. NOT SURE HOW/WHY THEY ARE STILL ALLOWING TEE TIMES ON GOLFNOW IF IT IS A PRIVATE COURSE. I was told I could golf but i must pay the Guest Fee of $60 instead of the $39 Hot Deals rate that I booked. But he finally looked at his system and found out my rate was prepaid. Nowhere in the email I got from Golfnow does it say "Prepaid".
If a course is so-called "Private" why are tee times being offered on Golfnow?? And if I am able to book a time at your course why am I being given the third degree when I show up for my reserved tee time?
I used to play this course all the time before it went "private" but that will be my last round at Deer Creek.
Not worth $65
95% of the bunkers are unplayable. They are either washed out completely, full of weeds, or as hard as a baseball diamond. The greens are in good shape but the tee boxes still need work and someone needs to really trim most of the trees back from the tee boxes. They have become overgrown which cuts off most of the angles into the fairway, and does not allow for the grass to grow. There are no marshals so if you get stuck behind slow players...which you will you are more than likely in for almost a 5 hour round. Pace of play here should be 4 hours or less. Very limited beverage cart service even on the weekends, and the guys in the pro shop do their job but are not the most friendly.
Decent course, needs a little attention
Overall a nice course and a decent price but I will say the bunkers are garbage. A little TLC would go a long way. Course itself is challenging enough but not overwhelming.
Great life claims another one
It’s probably been 4 years or so since I played this golf course, not near as nice as the last time. My experience has been when Great Life takes over a golf course the quality of the course starts to worsen. I can see it starting here. Oh yeah, didn’t see a drink cart till the 18th hole. That sucked.
