Beautiful layout

This course was very challenging, but rewarded you for a good shot. What a gorgeous setup too.

We found the staff to be extremely helpful and engaging.

Nice layout terrible maintenance

Played while traveling through Des Moines. Really liked the tree-lined layout and design. However whoemever is making the maintenance and upkeep decisions should be fired. Driving range is irons only, and I've seen hayfields with shorter grass. No idea how they pick up the balls. Was shocked that the range hitting area was 1 1/2" long, but to my horror so were all the fairways. Fairways couldn't have been mowed within the last week. I don't mind narrow fairways, but there is No internediate rough at all so you go from 1 1/2" fairways to 4" thick rough. Greens were wildly inconsistent in terms of condition, firmness and speed. Nothing like the practice green. 2 greens had been vandalized by a 4 wheeler, and NOTHING had been done to repair the damage. I'm shocked that a community with $500k-$1m homes would tolerate course maintenance like this. Not impressed at all!

Hello and thank you for playing our course. You played Monday morning prior to our mowers getting out on the course for routine mowing. The driving range is being grown in, so we are waiting to complete mowing. The vandalism had just occurred Friday and Saturday nights so we have not had a chance to begin repairs.....all in all you just caught us at the wrong time and my apologies for that....try us again and I am confident your opinions would change.

Fun course in excellent condition!

This is a fun course in great condition from tee to green. The greens are especially challenging as you can get into positions with a lot of slope and speed! There's a good variety of tight vs open tee shots too. The only thing I would like to see is more water and bunkers in play, but others will enjoy fewer lost balls. If you hit driver 270 plus, I would recommend the back tees as you'll likely hit wedge or better into every par 4 and 5 from the white tees.

Copper, more like gold

Copper Creek is one of the best bang for your buck courses in the Des Moines metro. The scenery is great with nice housing and many trees along the course. It has some easier holes on the front nine and some more difficult holes on the back. Bunkers aren't really a factor; however, trees can be on some of the smaller fairways. I really enjoy playing this course, I just wish it was further west as I live about 25 miles away.

Great Variety at Copper Creek

My son and I played this course last year and enjoyed it enough to come back. Free range balls was a bonus to get loose, although the practice range is short so irons only.

The course has variety of left v right, hills v flat, tight v open ( a couple almost too tight so hit an iron). It winds though a nice neighborhood, so you feel like you are almost alone on the course at many points throughout.

We were paired with a couple of pleasant guys and so we had a great day.

Enjoy!

Solid experience, unlike my ball striking.

Always enjoy my GolfNow deals on this course. Pro shop gets me out pronto and politely. Course in good shape for early spring. Greens came through the winter well.

The course was very wet but in generally good shape. They are redoing some tee boxes that will be a added benefit to the course!!

Great course

Course was in good condition, especially being in October. The only thing they could patch up is the tee boxes but that's it. Greens were fast but true. One of my favorite courses to play and the prices are fantastic. Check out the new bar inside the clubhouse too...its fantastic. Check this course out if you haven't already!

Nice Fall weather for a afternoon of golf

Made a tee time online for play at 3pm. The fivesome ahead had everyone backed up. The two tee time groups behind us where waiting on hole one as we were waiting to tee off. Finally by the back nine we squeezed around and it opened up enough to have a normal pace. The back nine greens were rough and aerated.
Always a been a nice layout for a course. Nice change in shots between holes. Nice to have fall rates since conditions, restrooms, water stations were needed.
New clubhouse and pro shop look great. Although my time was spent waiting on the course.

Once a Great Course

Copper was my "home" course for a number of years primarily due to course condition. They had the superintendent in Central Iowa. Well he must have got hired away because this course has the worst turf of any I have played this year. They CAN'T GROW GRASS! The tee boxes and fairways are bare. About this time last year I sent an email to manager about this same issue and he said they were fighting some kind of fungus, apparently they still are. Time to throw in the towel and call in some professionals who will shut it down and reseed. Maybe you should try zoysia grass, works in Missouri.

Anniversary Outing

Course was pretty wet due to recent rains.
Tee boxes were muddy, thin grass.
Greens were fast but marked up quite a bit, lots of pitch marks.
Some cart paths were pretty muddy.
Not worst experience, but could have been better.

A Grest Value

Copper Creek is a medium length course that challenges your game. Some holes require precise shot placement, while others allow you to let it out with only minimal risk. If your putter is on you will enjoy the greens. If not, well there is always next time.

The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the clubhouse remodel is fantastic. You will enjoy CC . It's well maintained and a great value.

Potential Is There

I love the set up of this course but here are the issues as I see them. Reading other reviews, not sure what people expect of a decent course, but this ain't it. I would rather play Blank.

1. Let's start with the fact that there is no starter! Golfers start themselves and at check in they don't tell you this. The first time I played this I was not aware of this and sat out on my cart waiting to be called to the tee. I even went inside several times to make myself noticed. When I finally asked, the staff told me you just go to #1 around your tee time. I asked for my money back and left. I tried it again this year and it's ho hum. There were more employees jockeying around carts then helping customers.
2. Greens are riddled with ball marks. I worked at course and we would routinely go out and fix ball marks. There's even a special tool for it that doesn't require bending over so you can fix a lot of ball marks in a short time.
3. Tee boxes are a joke. #16 tee box was nothing but weeds.....literally......weeds. And it slanted, you couldn't find a level spot.
4. Fairways are almost more of joke then the tee boxes.
5. I lost a ball in the "rough" within 10 yards of the green. I don't think they mow to save money.
6. Previous Bankruptcy. Enough said.
7. Cart paths are falling apart and the weed barrier fabric is ripping up.
8. No GPS. This really irritates me. Even the Des Moines City courses have GPS. It speeds up play, it gives the golfer a great view of trouble and obviously.....yardage!!!!! That's a novel concept. Now if you don't have GPS then at least provide placards in the tee boxes to inform of distance to trouble, landing zones, etc. Here, all you have to go by is what's on the sign and the card.
9. If your not going to properly maintain the bunkers, then get rid of them.
