Painted Hill Falling Fast
I have played at Painted over the last 3 years. The fairways this time weeds were about 1/3-1/4 of the fairway which was disappointed. The greens had been arriated recently with no advance notice on GolfNow. One might think that great life KC has relagated this course based it's condition to its lowest tier . I do not recommend this course in its current condition
Tee boxes were in rough on some holes but for $35 cart included I felt like it was a good deal!
Good course for the money
This is a pretty nice course. Greens are in good shape and the fairways are well kept. I like the course minus the pace of play.
Excellent conditions, cleanliness and excellent staff.
Painted Hills GC
Great course. Would play again without hesitation. Ball placement was essential for the course.
The course has great features
Staff was great, people on the course was nice fun to talk to. Great time playing there.
Excellent conditions
Great course conditions and great staff. Pace of play was never an issue.
The greens keeper is money
Got a hot deal on this course. So the value was there. The greens were very well kept but that's about it. Tee boxes were hard as stock. Weeds were present on most tee boxes. The rough was very long so balls just off the fairway were difficult to find. Loved the topography but the cart was sometimes like the little engine that could. I think I can I think I can..... overall great value but course needs some work.
Good Course
The course overall was in good condition for a public course. Greens and fairways in good shape. Some tee boxes a bit thin and needing repairs but still ok. Not crowded and fast pace of play.
May 2017
This course really seems to have gone down hill greens were in decent shape Fairways and rough for a little patchy no snack bar really to speak of other than help yourself to a burger or hotdog
Course was as good as you could expect for early December.
Average Public Course
This was a nice course, spread out and fairly easy to play. The tenth hole is along a four lane highway, not a good place for a slice if you are right handed. There are some holes that you are unable to see the green from the tee that make it difficult if you are playing the course for the first time. There is no driving range to warm up on and a very small putting green with only one cup to putt to. Overall a good course for a reasonable price.
A Day at Painted Hills
I had a great time. The course operator spent a huge amount of time removing leaves from the fairways. This paid huge dividends on the pace of play.
The fairways were a little rough, bUT that was based on the time of year.
The greens were awesome. A lot of undulation made reading the putts challenging and the ball roll was fast.
Overall, it was a fun time.
enjoyable
It was a great day. I always have enjoyed this course.
Weedy, Beat-up Course that Eats Balls
I've played this course about 5 times this year, and the condition continues to go downhill. In comparison to other courses I've played this summer (Tiffany Greens, Hodge Park, The Deuce, Heritage Park, Winterstone, and Fairview (in St. Joe), this course is hand's down in the worst condition of all of them. It's not even close. The fairways and tee boxes were filled with weeds, ranging from crab grass to clover. The rough was thick and ate up balls that just missed the fairway, while the greens were riddled with un-repaired ball marks and had missing chunks of grass. It's a shame because the course layout is fun and the price is reasonable (but perhaps too high for the present conditions). Frankly, this course is, right now, probably in the poorest condition of any course I've EVER played in Kansas City, except for the now-defunct Rockwood course in Independence. I've heard the course is under new ownership, so perhaps they can get things in line soon, because the course has potential.
Will never play here again
Outside about half the greens, this is a weed and dirt-infested dog track. The layout is actually not back (short of a some parallel holes where hackers will rain balls on you). It's very short (ie <15-20 handicap will find this very short) but nice holes and elevation changes.
Played Sunday...fairways hadn't been cut for a least 3-4 days (I literally could not tell the difference btwn the rough and fairway on most holes). The greens and fairways are overrun with weeds. The marshall was complete jerk--instead of a "please keep it on the path (we didn't read the "Carts" sign due to overgrown grass... our bad), he said "you idiots can't read, can you?" Nice.
The maintenance guy said they have 4 crew member for the entire course...4...for 120 acres....and GOD forbid, don't drive into the weeds or the marshall will lose his frikkin' mind.
This is a perfect course for 30+ handicappers...
UPDATE: I played this course on February 5, and the conditions were greatly improved. The greens were in excellent condition, and it was clear to me that the course had been investing money in improvements. Very glad to see positive changes at this course. Keep up the good work.
