The course overall is about a 7/10, two par 3s are top-notch kc's best. It has 10 really good holes the rest are solid. Par 5s are outstanding, all 4 offer there own unique challenge. One of the hardest par 4s in KC 480 up a hill, if the wind is in your face good luck getting par. The course is usually in good shape for a public course, 7/10. Greens are medium to fast depending on the year almost always in good shape. Good use of water and trees on the course. Bunkers are in good shape always 7/10. not too hilly but a few long distances between holes, so you can walk but will take 4 min between a few holes. Negatives, tee times, they need a new website update. Too much over the phone trouble, Older guys that work there aren't interested in helping or catering to the people who want to play. Lacking customer service while on the phone trying to make a tee time. Need a cart barn. The overall course is good and worth about 30-40$.
Excellent for ‘almost’ winter golf.
Fairways and greens were in great shape. Some fairway damage from recent rains being repaired. Greens are challenging but fair. Wide fairways. Course and pro shop folks rxcelkent.
No course Marshal to help with pace of play
On a nice Saturday they let several groups of 5 play and no course marshal to help with the slow play so we didn’t get to even finish our round before dark!
Really enjoyed this older course. The greens were in excellent condition. Recommend this course to anyone.
Really enjoyed this corse, first time playing it. The layout is good and I love the par threes. Will definitely be back.
Enjoyed it
No problems, good course, good conditions. A few challenging holes, look forward to playing it again
Worst Course I’ve Ever Played
Terrible course. The rangers were in bad moods and at every other hole. The grass was the worst I’ve ever seen, dirt patches everywhere. Greens were slower than slow, spongey, terrible.
County-owned need some TLC
Downey on track used to be a lot better than it is now about a fifth of the fairways at massive Sparks with no grass the size of a queen size bed. Understand the county has plenty of money why it's not being better taken care of.
Good long course, but always windy
Great public course. Has some really tough water carries, a couple for long Par 3's and one on your drive. When the wind picks up, which it is always windy in Olathe, makes for challenging shots. Course was in OK condition, but that is only because it is very early in the season. Greens were decent even though they were just aerated. A fun course with elevation changes and great to practice your wind play. Rough is tough, so bring plenty of extra balls as it is very easy to lose a ball just off the fairway.
