Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Kansas (2022 #3)
Reviews
Things I liked:
- Based on my experience, I’m guessing that when translated to English the word “Osawatomie” means “tree in the way.”
- Great variety of challenging, straightforward, wide open, and tight golf holes.
- Would not consider the course to be in championship condition. But it is enjoyable and was a pleasure to play.
- As a faster single, a couple of groups did let me play thru. Thank you!
- Very friendly and helpful staff.
Things I did not like:
- Maybe a few signs guiding the uninitiated to the correct tee box. It took me a minute to figure out where #8 tee was, and where to hit my tee shot.
Things important to me:
- Their website clearly listed their greens fees.
- Though there are some hills, I found this course to be an enjoyable walk.
- Don't recall any water coolers out on the course.
- As of the day that I played, they did not have a branded ball marker.
Great Hidden Course
Our group decided to try out a different course away from Kansas City and were pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We started on the back 9. the greens seemed smaller than what we were use to. It really tested your short game. The front nine was totally different but equally as fun. I would recommend this course to anyone who is looking to get away from the city and enjoy a relaxing round. The drive was totally worth it. We will make the trip again.
Nice Course
Staff was very friendly. Pace of play was really good. People let you play through. Course was in really good shape. Pretty flat and open but very nice.
Definitely worth a look!
Neat old course
Great place to win a little money from your friends who can't chip! Old school small greens are refreshing. Cool place!
They are working on the course and I have seen great improvement. Holes 17 and 18 are great! Can't wait until they all look like that.

Look Elsewhere
It's hard to complain after paying only $10 to play 18 holes here. However, the reviews are misleading, and so are the course pictures. If you enjoy playing on dirt fairways, this is your course. Additionally, the greens are smaller than most practice putting greens. I can honestly say, even if it were free, I would not make a trip out to play this course again.
Beautiful setting lends to good golf experience
Tight tree lined front nine prepares you for a wide open long back nine. Lots of variance in hole configuration makes for a challenging yet pleaureable day of golf.
Welcoming enviroment!
The golf course is not difficult...it's only defense are the very small greens which will test your "up and down" ability. The back nine plays longer so is a little more difficult. My wife and I played the course in 3 hours. I would give the golf course a "C", but I would give the warm and friendly staff an "A+". We will return to play again if for no other reason because of the welcoming people!
Osawatomie Golf Course
This is a course with small, but very nice greens. Fairway grass on some of the front 9 holes needs work, but much better on the back, especially #17 where the zoysia has developed nicely.
