Cape Neddick Country Club
About
Cape Neddick Country Club occupies a scenic stretch of rugged Maine coastline, just 45 minutes south of Portland and just over an hour north of Boston. The gentle start offered by the front nine is nicely balanced with the more challenging back nine. Be sure to build up your score on the player-friendly first half because greater accuracy will be required for the final stretch of the golf course. With plenty of variety among all of the holes, the layout will test your skill with different types of shots. There are a variety of elevation changes ranging from subtle to dramatic, providing tricky uphill and downhill lies. The contours are complemented by strategically placed bunkers that lurk along the challenging greens. Water hazards also come into play on several holes at Cape Neddick Country Club.

Ross course
Interesting contrast; short front nine and lengthy back nine. The par 5's on the back nine were difficult, especially the first par 5.
Fun!
Very nice course! We'll maintained.. Holes not marked very well though. There are some confusing areas but we'll worth the price with a golf now discount!!
Disappointed in course
Booked through Golfnow at $45. Would be greatly disappointed if I had paid the full rate.
Very slow pace, course was beat up a bit from over use. From reviews I have read on line about Cape Neddick, being highly suggested, I would disagree. From the many courses I have played, this would rank near the bottom. I would suggest, for the more advanced golfer, to skip this course.
Will Play it Again
Good staff, nice conditions, decent greens. I will return to play it again next year when I am on vacation in the area.
An excellent but pricey course!
The course was still very wet from lots of rain 2 days previously. Carts were cart path only. Was delayed by a mixed foursome in front of us that several times forgot to move their cart with the flow of the game and had to run back to retrieve their cart. The ranger did intervene and they did pick up their play.
Nice course
Old course in very good shape and with some challenge !!!
Great time
My son (15) and I played Cape Neddick yesterday and we had a great time. We are average golfers and course fit us perfect. There are challenges on just about every hole. Water, traps, marsh and rock ledges. They let you know distances to water in the fairway, so you know if you can carry it or lay up. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely play again sometime.
Great shape
Some holes require course knowledge but overall a nice track
Watch out for the short par 4's
I do like this course, and would certainly recommend it. I understand it is a Brian Silva redo of a Donald Ross course. Those are two of my favorite architects, and I can see both of their styles at the course. It has a very nice driving range with grass. From the tips it is just a little over 6000 yards, so not bad. The par fives are reachable from shorter tees, but challenging from the blacks. The greens are currently very good to excellent in condition and average in speed. Maybe they will be cut a little shorter later in the season I hope. If I had one complaint it was the people pushing us from behind and hitting shots from the white tees on the short par 4's, and almost hitting us when we had people right in front of us. On two of the three short holes they hit their balls to within 10 years of our carts. I doubt it was ignorance of the course.
Berks
The course was very good and accessible for even the average golfer. The distances were very reachable. Unfortunately there was heavy rain the day before we played and it does not drain very well. So, keep that in mind.
Great course, great staff
This is a course that you should play. It has a bit of everything, and the choice of tee boxes will keep it fair for anyone. We did play at noon so we did have a few less experienced players out there, front took the majority of our time, played the back in just over two hours.
But the most important part was how the staff treated us, like we were members. And the entire staff: pro shop, starter, rangers, and the young lady in the lounge, made us akll feel right at home.
Interesting Layout
This is a course worthy of a side trip. My threesome played on a Tuesday, and we started at noon. Despite playing on a perfect weather day, it had rained a lot the night before, and the fairways were soaked. Carts were only allowed on the paths, and it took over 5 hours to play the round. Still, the layout of the course was very interesting, with traditional Donald Ross features, and I'd play it again, just not after torrential rain!
Worth the trip
Despite early rain, we enjoyed our round. The course ,although wet ,you could tell it well maintained. The green were excellent. Food in club house was home made and delicious

Cape Neddick, Maine is a beautiful place in this world, that's for sure. And for the casual recreational golfer the Cape Neddick course might be a fun way to invest a vacation morning or two.
The problem is that modern technology has overcome this course. It is too short, too easy, for the reasonably good player. The course is loaded with very short par fours that offer little challenge and provide almost no interest.
The rack rate green fees are very expensive and do not represent value in any way.
Pace of play - advertised at a bit over four hours - is deathly slow on the weekends. Many of the players are super-senior couples who just won't move along and simply refuse to let faster players through. Course marshals were not in evidence.
Food and drink in the nice clubhouse was good, but unreasonably expensive. Service seemed to be very nice to members, not so to "the public".
With so many fine courses in Southern Maine and the Seacoast region of New Hampshire, Cape Neddick is probably not the place for you to play.
This course surpassed my expectations
I loved the course ! I liked the diversity of holes and course layout. The conditions were great. The fairways were free of divots and the greens were well maintained. I did find the greens a bit slow for my liking because I am accustomed to faster greens, but it was my first time playing there and I would get accustomed to them if I played there often. I played the back nine first which is longer than the front nine and tougher. I had a decent back nine and was delighted to learn that the front nine was much shorter so I would be able to score better than usual. I had one of my lowest scores for the season at a course I never played before AND the cost for playing 18 holes with a cart was INCREDIBLY low !! I could make this my home course if I could play at the same reduced rate every time.
Hidden Treasure
This is a great place to spend a morning or afternoon. The course is beautiful and in great shape. The greens are slower than others in the area however as the summer progresses I be leave they will quicken. There are Donald Ross features all over this course. Knowing your club distances is important as this course is full of target golf play. The golfers and staff are all wonderful people. Try this course and you will come back to this hidden gem.
Cape neddick
Have played this course many times old 9 is.a classic; new still getting bettero
Questionable
When attempting to book my tee time I checked their price online as well is GolfNow.com. Both websites said the fee would be $45 for 18 holes including cart and range balls. When calling to make my reservation I spoke with Livingston who said the fees would be $85, when I brought this to his attention that GolfNow as well has their own website said the fees were $45 he told me that I was incorrect. He said he was looking at the website and it was $85, I asked if he would honor the GolfNow rate of $45 any said no he would not. I found this to be very upsetting and left me not trusting of the course. The course itself was well groomed and the staff friendly.
