Great time
Course in great condition tee to green avg speed on green fairway above avg for current weather hot and dry best course I have played this year been out 7 times since may 1st
Bearable
We played on Father's Day and the rate was only $30 w/ cart which was a good deal for the day/time we reserved. I've seen this course charge close to $50 for a round which is not worth it in my opinion. I was pleasantly surprised as the course conditions were the best I'd seen there in a decade. Typically the greens are always very sandy. This is a good "fallback option" course, but don't overpay. Also, no hard liquor - only beer.
The course was in pretty good shape.
I hadn't played Tomahawk Hills this year. I was pleasantly pleased with the conditions of the course and the pace of play on Father's Day.
Great Course
I've played golf for for ten years, and this course is above average compared to most of the other courses I've played. There is no reason this course should be getting one and two star reviews. I've played one and two star courses in the KC area, but this isn't one of them. Yeah, there are some areas on a couple of greens that need to be repaired, but overall, the course is in great shape and well taken care of. The cliff holes. 9 and 18. are a very unique and awesome feature. The staff is always friendly. Good value. Nice new clubhouse. It's a rather challenging course with all of the elevation changes, but that's makes it fun.
Fun course
Great course. Hope you're hitting straight, there are a lot of trees. 2 par 3's that you won't find at every course. Overall pretty good.
Poor shape, not kid friendly
Greens are slow and bumpy. Wanted to bring my 2 year old son with me for a fun dad with dad. At check was told hes not allowed on course. Ruined the day left after 6 holes. Won't be back to hit balls or golf again. Had more staff at the golf course standing around then golfers. Not well run or maintained. Don't waste your time with this muni.
SOAKED
It started raining about the 3rd hole. Then it continued to get worse. We hung on for a shot at the ninth hole. Teeing off from the top of a cliff! Wild!
We'll be back!

Used to be a Great Course...Now just a Great Clubhouse and practice facility
I used to Play Tamahawk quite often, but hadn't in a while...I remembered why after hole #3. The course layout is a good one, however the greens are in really bad shape. They're small greens and are mostly all domed, so even if you're on in 2 you're going to have some crazy putts.
Maybe if they'd spent a little less making the place look good from the outside and a little more on improving the greens and general conditions, I might consider coming back more often. The layout is fun, just a pain when it comes to in and around the greens.
HIT & HUNT
my group and i played this course on April 24, the weather was perfect temp but very windy.
Greens. holes 1 - 4 were covered with wind - dispersed seeds "helicopters or whirlybirds" making it impossible to putt. out of the remaining 14 greens not covered with helicopters 10 of them where EXTREMELY bumpy and again imposable to get a pure putt of any sort, the remaining four where playable at best not good but puttable. Every pin placement on every green was on a CROWN making putting for birdie a JOKE and hopefully your par putt didn't role 4 to 6 feet away. out of the 18 holes more than 10 of them are elevated leaving you a 100% blind approach shot, hole 9 and 18 are ELEVATED tee boxes 180 yards to the green, i hit 9 iron and over flew the green due the 100FOOT drop and wind behind me made it impossible to really determine distances to hit to.
Fairways
the fairways are very narrow which puts a real premium on accurate tee shots, over half of the fairways were in very bad shape, a few of the fairways maybe 2 of them had no green grass at all, but hard brown grass roots, other fairways offered lots and lots of bare spots, very rare will you have a level stance, you will most always be hitting up or down a hill of some degree.
Rough
ankle high was the rough, not a real problem for a skilled enough golfer, but the problem is remember that almost every tee shot is a blind shot up hill or a dog leg that levels you having no clue of where your ball ended up if you missed the fairway. i'm saying just a few feet out the fairway would take you 10 mins to search for your ball, my group must have lost 6 balls that we simply gave up on searching for for the sake of PACE of play. HIT & HUNT there were 6 of us we played in two threesomes i was solo in the cart which was a good thing as I became the forecaddy for the group, i would hit my shot jump in the cart and drive 100 yards or so up the fairway to spot for my playing partners, without fore-caddy be prepared for a very long round of golf.
Overall, I shot an 83, haven't hot an 83 in over 7 years, my playing partners shot 85, the third golfer in my group shot 95, the other threesome were all in the upper 90s.
show lots of wildlife, wild turkeys, BLACK Snakes, skunks, etc. but if i had to do it all over again i would play Heritage golf course not fair away.
Last Words
Make sure you have plenty of balls, you're going to need them!
Poor communication
Cart path only restriction not mentioned until sitting at 3rd green. Temporary 4th green not mentioned until after tee time booked.
I always enjoy my round of golf at Tomahawk!
Pleasant experience all around. Morning rounds out there are very nice this time of year between all of the trees changing colors and the great views you have to see all of them. Let alone the great weather! Love the views from the hole-9 and hole-18 par 3's! For this time of year I was surprised to see the course still in such great shape!
Poor greens and approaches
I was shocked to see how poor the greens, fringe and approaches were. I've played this course many times the last few years and am not sure why it was in the condition it was.
Labor Day Rainy Day
After the thunderstorms Sunday night I wasn't sure if we would even get to play but the course was in pretty good shape. Lots of blind tee shots and elevation changes. The views on the par 3 9th and 18th are incredible. You really need to know your yardages when you play here. Not a lot of people out on the course so pace of play was just under 4 and a half hours.
The greens were in horrible condition because it irrigated it too soon
The greens were in horrible condition because it irrigated it too soonon the green half of the greens were dark bumpy terrible
Course needs to be better maintained
I got a round here at $30 which is bit lower than their normal fee of $43. The track itself is pretty fun, I have always enjoyed it, but where I'm disappointed is in the greens. A few of the greens had several spots where there was dirt or dead grass. Some greens were mowed and others were fairly long. The fairways there are in great shape as well as the tee boxes. The rough is in ok shape. In my experience here in KC if you are north of the $40 range then the greens should be in prety good shape.
Green issues
For what ever the reason, the greens are in questionable shape. #4 I would guess is about 1/3 "green". The remainder of the surface is brown. Others show a good amount of heat damage. Always a challenge and the staff is great. $30 bucks to ride made the day easier to take.
Challenging but fair
This course is decievingly challenging and because the heat index was 105 degrees it was difficult to keep the club from twisting. The weather was the biggest issue while playing this course. the course was great and I would play it again.
Fun Course
Fun course to play! Several elevated tee boxes. Great course to go out with a friend or two and play a round.
Tomahawk
Tomohawk is a fun course. It has some unique holes. The marshals are pretty uptight but other than that it was a good experience
very nice big trees narrow fairways.
Everything was great but got behind a group of two that was hitting from the blues and shouldn't have been playing from the whites. Two off every tee box but wouldn't let us play through. Not courses fault but very aggravating.
