Great course out in the country
Longview is about an hour from me but I never miss a chance to play it. The course is challenging yet forgiving. There are drivable par 4s and a few holes where your hitting over water. The greens are in excellent shape but the play fast. The fairways are nice and lush. Incredibly nice people in the clubhouse. The carts are newer and in great shape. The driving range is nice to warm up on. I can’t say enough about Longview. I wish I lived closer!!!!
Average experience
Fun track with a nice staff, but the pace is awful. It took about 3 hours for the front nine.
2nd timer
Both times I played here the greens were fantastic, good pace but not too fast. This time it was a little bit more tall on the rough and fairway but I played in early February so that was expected. Even with multiple groups in front and behind our group of 4 was done in 4 hrs
Good value golf course
Not many sand traps.
Good for beginners and mediate players.
Tee off area may need to be improved.
Greens are great condition.
An 8-some????
Let a group of 12 off to play a “scramble” (8 we’re playing together) that backed the course up so bad there were 5 groups waiting to tee off on hole 7. So bad had to play the front nine twice and still was a 6 hour round as we ran into yet another scramble from the Stay and Plays.
Greens were great
The greens were in great shape barring some pock marks where prior ball marks were not repaired or incorrectly repaired. They were very fast and putted true. The fairways were about 50/50. Some were covered with crab grass, making it a necessity to roll the ball instead of playing it down. The worst was a lack of distance marking. I know lots of folks have range finders, but I have no problem estimating my yardage from 100, 150 and 200 if only those would be clearly marked. I don't understand why it is so difficult for courses to simply mark those 3 distances. They did have a few striped poles at the 150 mark, but not all holes had them.
Last round before trip
Tee boxes were hard but enjoyed playing and the golf shop attendant was helpful.
Challenging but fair.
Looking for a family, friendly course, in Central Ky., to play golf. Longview, is one sweet deal. Fresh, comfortable, but speedy carts. Both challenging but fair, for all skill levels. Is the best way to describe Longview Golf Course. If you haven't already played there, take advantage of the opportunity when you're nearby. You won't be disappointed.
Maybe Canewood next week.
Fairways & greens were pretty good. The rough and tee boxes had some of Kentucky’s finest crabgrass.
I really enjoyed having a mower ride within 15 feet of me while I was swinging & two mowers mowing the fairway in front of me while I was trying to play. And the trash they mowed over really added character to the course.
I think I’ll be golfing elsewhere next week.
Satisfied
Other than some of the senior tee boxes, The course was in excellent shape. Not many were playing so the pace was just right. There was a foursome that somehow got in front of us when we got to hole 10. They were very slow and since there were only 3 of us we skipped a hole and finished way ahead of them. They had 2 opportunities to let us play thru but, they did not offer. Still we had an excellent round of golf.
