Course has seen better days
This used to be the premiere course in the area. I hadn't play it years and was looking forward to the experience. I got a deal online and it was only $35 for 18. Even at that price I don't know if it was worth it. The fairways were rough and hard as concrete. The greens also in terrible shape. Very dry and hard. They were also very rough. It was hard to find a smooth line where you could put without having to go over a bump or divot. There were pare patches and patches of different grass (weeds) growing on the greens. The tee off boxes were mowed but usually the area right around the tee off boxes were knee high weeds. The course just looked like it hasn't been maintained in years. It was a sad comparison to what it once was. I wouldn't play there again even at that rate.
Do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere
Golfing during the week. Thought it would be open, no such luck. Literally stacked up on every tee all day. Course is in rough shape (crab grass, burn spots, bunkers full of weeds), and the cart path is dangerously in need of repair. Layout of Fox Run is weird as it sits about a half mile away from the main clubhouse. Since the snack bar on that course was closed had to take a 20 min round trip to the clubhouse at the turn. Which wouldn't have been so bad except the cart path is in shambles. Lastly, the course plays very narrow. If you aren't on the fairway you're dropping due to a lost ball. The hole layout markers are pretty much useless. Lots of balls lost to blind shots over a hill, or shots 5 feet off the fairway.
Worth the money
Course was in above average condition given the time of year....nobody on the course on a Saturday morning....few fairways had some burnt spots, and a couple greens had issues, but overall I was pleased...worst thing about it is almost every bunker is unplayable....If they would take those and give them attention this course would be top notch...I will be back to play again, my favorite layout in the area
Poor course
No sand traps, just dirt and weeds where sand traps used to be. Fairway grass is in poor shape. It is a shame what has happened to this course.
Course shape Fox Run
Snack bar for Fox Run was closed. Starter had no idea of pin position. Several holes had bare spots on greens. Tee box positions in some cases didn't match yards they were supposed to be. Hole 13 tees were 207 yards from hole for a par 4.
Dissapointing
Strange layout...cart paths beat you to death....way too much distance between tees....you go from 6500 yds to 5800 yds going from gold to silver tees.....greens are challenging and roll good but they are currently having insect issues.....
Tremendous potential
Fox run at one time was a premier course. Years of neglect have left it just a shadow of its formal self.
Overgrown and cart paths that are impassable... nothing some cash and attention could not fix...
Nothing to write home about
Not worth $46. Cart paths in bad shape. Fairways and greens average.
Fox Run
The course is in better shape than last ten years. However, it pails when compared to the way it was kept 20 years ago when at $49.00/round, the course was rated top 5 public courses in Cincinnati. Kenton County needs to repair cart paths, repair traps, and daily course maintenance. So happy to see old 18 open.
Great features but in desperate need of repairs
Holes 6, 17 and 18 are in bad shape. 6 needs a better grading than having a huge dip in the middle of fairway. 17 just needs over hanging branches over fairway trimmed. 18 is a mess and needs updating. All tee boxes and traps need work. Some cart paths are dangerous, i e 12 and 13.
This could and should be the Premier Course in NKy in my opinion.
With all the current work the course needs, it is my favorite course and KCGC!!
Beautiful day
Me and 3 friends went out today at 7:40 in the morning for a round and the course is overall in excellent condition....couple patchy areas but nothing to be alarmed about....we let a group of 2 go through us after the 4th hole and was smooth sailing from there...played in a leisurely 5 hours and the concession stand is open in the back now....friendly staff as always and I’ll definitely be back very soon
Course has sand traps but does not maintain them. Fairways and greens were good. There are no services at Fox so nothing to grab to eat or drink at the turn. Once was a great place to play, but that has changed.
FOX RUN 2019
The course was in much better shape than 2018 & 2017. I love the L/O but traps have not been kept for years. The greens were in great shape. It's a shame the public doesn't support this more. ARTHUR HILLS courses are always a great challenge. I'll be back.
Early season
Concession stand back at Fox Run isn’t opened yet so be sure to bring plenty to drink with you...fairways still have no color but are in fine shape, greens were in great shape as well....I played alone and went through a group of 4 and didn’t see anyone else out there ....rough wasn’t to long and it was easy to spot balls on most holes...everyone in the clubhouse is always friendly and makes u feel welcome there....Kenton County is becoming one of my favorite places to play
