Must play
Every time I have played here it has been nothing but great! Little off the beaten path but that is part of the greatness. Considering how few players were on the course, this place is always very we'll kept . Any time you can play a Pete Dye course at this value, I suggest you do it!
What sand traps??
You could tell this was (or could be) a great course but is in dire need of some TLC. There were lots of traps but an absence of sand, mostly dirt and rocks! But all in all, a great deal and an enjoyable day!
Either impriove or get rid of bunkers
Greens were nice and pace of play was great. But the bunkers were played as ground under repair. Not having nice bunkers defeats the visual and original design my Mr. Dye.
no ranger or control on course/party course
There needs to be some signs somewhere to get to this course . STARTED TO PLAY SECOND NINE AND 3 FOURSOMES JUMPED IN FRONT . Told the pro and he said wish people would listen and it would be better. Believe me this was a circus atmosphere and maybe that is what they want to just get drinkers and partiers . Won't be back I can assure you. Would not give a refund for the 9 either . We left after 9 holes .
Good but could be better
A good value but the bunkers need a lot of work they are currently just dirt. The fairways were being aereated while we were playing we were unaware of this. The staff was super the rate to play was great and overall I would play again
Nice greens, some fairways were under repair, and sand traps where the worst I have seen in sometime.
Sand traps had no sand, just dirt and rocks. The course is a Pete Dye designed course and have a number of interesting hole layouts, but was in poor overall condition. I would not recommend driving very far to play this course.
Great layout
Course is a excellent, and greens are highly ungulated which makes it more fun. Fairways still need a couple weeks to turn completely. Greens are in fine shape. Well worth the drive from lexington and I will play here again.
A bit down
I've played this course several times over the past few years and have really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the fairways are currently "under construction" and it was difficult to find any grass in them. I was also disappointed with the food area, as the lady was inattentive and we had to go outside and get our own ice out of a bag. However, the greens were in good condition and putted well and the pro shop employee was very friendly and helpful.
Had a fun time
I normally don't play from the long tees, but decided to for this round. It made me appreciate the challenges of the course. It is fairly wide open with small but well paced, two-tiered greens. The greens and boxes were in good shape. The fairways are still recovering from a harsh winter, but getting better. I met the club pro Chase and he was very friendly, giving me some pointers since it was my first time playing the course. Hit the ball well so it made for a good round. Played another nine since I enjoyed it so much!
this course was in poor shape
green and tees were in good shape but the fairways were as bad as they come. They had very little grass and a lot of mud. we had to prepaid for the golf and had no choise but to play .
Course could be a very nice layout.
It appeared that they had lost their fairways and the greens had just been aerated so were very slow and sandy. The whole course was in bad need of maintenance. What a shame to let a Pete Dye course get in that condition.
Maintenance a problem.
The traps are not maintained, little sand and big rocks, not good. The GPS was for a different course. We had to play the back twice as the front greens were being aerated.
A great day for golf !
I enjoyed playing the course on a beautiful day, the course was in good shape, mowed and maintained, the greens were also in good shape. The only issue we had was the GPS was not operational on our cart, otherwise nothing to complain about.
Fun day
The clubhouse is beautiful. The staff were terrific. The gps made the course more enjoyable. Not as challenging as I figured, but fun.
Positives outweigh the Negatives
This course has great layout which takes advantage of the hilly terrain. Pete Dye as always incorporates various degrees of risk reward into this course. The fairway and greens are in decent shape however I have the impression that the last time sand was added to the numerous traps was just before the course opened. The level of disrepair is more than compensated by the low price. The fees are a tremendous value that comes with cart withy GPS and they give a yardage booklet. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The play was slow but we were the first group after an outing. I bet it is usually much faster.
Super place to play!!!
The course is great to play. very challenging and fun. Looking forward to going back
play during the week in a relaxed fashion
very accommodating staff...not really far out of the way once you learn the directions...good mix of hole difficulty...great weekday value..head and shoulders above many courses that charge the same or more.
