Always a Challenge
The crown on the 1st fairway is your indicator ball placement off the tee is critical on this course for scoring. The fairway slopes can turn a seemingly great drive into a recovery shot for your 2nd. The back 9 is an adventure.
Advice: do not play your ball out of the sand. It isn't sand. It's a hard, rock mixture of terra firma with a Mars-like hue. You'll damage your club or break your wrist. I play no penalty take out and put it behind the trap.
Greens were in very good condition. Was able to play thru the 5-some and the 4+2. I don't lose my mind if they're slow as long as I can play thru.
Staff is friendly and accommodating. I arrived early and teed off early without issue. Back in a week or two!
Always a joy
Love this course and the variety of challenges, all amongst many beautiful views of nature
Good Layout especially back nine
Enjoyed the course. Rough around the edges, no sand in bunkers but the layout was good. Due to mostly canted fairways running straight off into the woods, I don't foresee any fast players getting the sub 4 hour round they enjoy. Have played other KY state parks in general area that I like better (Boots, Mineral Mounds) but I will
certainly return for revenge now that I know what's happening on the blind/dogleg holes.
Great shape
Course is very scenic and challenging. I will return
Great shape
Course is in great shape , Not a Country Club, but plays well and is in great shape
good course bad day
the course was in good shape the fairways was mowed the greens was in good shape the bad day was that they had a heavy rainstorm before I got there it was cart path only which made for slow play the only bad thing about the course they need sand bunkers work they was full of water did not drain very well they need sand bad and several of them had some good size rocks in them they need to be rebuilt like I said a good course just pick a bad day that rain that morning
Solid KY State Park Course
The routing takes full advantage of the rolling terrain. Greens are moderately sized and in great condition. Fairways areTight with not much rough before transitioning to forest. Course is very scenic.
Great course
Loved the course. Front nine was aerated but still had good roll. If you miss the fairways, you do pay for it...I'll be back
Challenges Await
I've played the course many times and with a lake house minutes away, will continue to play here.
Highlights include a picturesque setting and a challenging layout. It's not an easy course; slope is 140 from the whites. Experience and repeated rounds let you figure out where to play the ball. Woods line many fairways and are unkind to a slice or hook. There are, though, many risk/reward shots to challenge a 15HC player. Land the ball well on many fairways, otherwise the slopes of the Barren landscape will take you to unwanted destinations!
Gripes include bunkers that simply aren't playable, hard as rock and filled with rock. Also, the cart paths have been "uprooted". Tee boxes were "meh". Greens were in very good condition but the fringe was transitioning from winter to summer in a very soggy spring.
It was Masters Sunday, the course was busy. 4.5 hour pace, really not bad. No ranger this day to help with pace.
Challenging course
Iron play is essential but course is challenging and in great condition. Staff was very friendly
Great place
Great place it was early in the season so the fairways weren’t greened up yet but the greens were in great shape and the clubhouse staff let us take a cart to the RV park because we were staying there and did not have to travel back-and-forth with the motorhome to the course meant so much to us thanks for all your help Cody and Roy were the best thanks again
Great place
Great placeWith RV Park and other amenities very very nice facility run by the state of Kentucky
Good day
Had a beautiful fall day to get 18 in.
Course was in pretty good shape considering the bermuda fairways have gone dormant and browned.
They do not have a driving range, only a net by the first tee. There is a putting and chipping area.
Lots of roll in the fairways and don’t even think of hitting in the rough. You will do well to find the ball. The rough is understandable right now. It’s Bermuda as well and they had to let it get taller to last until spring.
Challenging layout. Not a long course, but lots of elevation changes, blind shots, and doglegs.
Greens were in great shape.
One of the better golf bargains in the area.
