The Bay Club - East Course
Editor's Note: Course closed for business on 01/31/2019.
There are two 18-hole championship golf courses available at the Bay Club in Berlin, which is conveniently situated just a few miles outside of Ocean City. Both the East and West Courses are routed through mature woodlands and incorporate 426 acres of lakes and wetlands, both man-made and natural. The East Course was the second course at the club, added in 1999. Measuring just over 7,000 yards, it is the longer of the two golf courses but only by about 50 yards. While the original West Course may be famous for its signature island green hole, dubbed "Devil's Island," the East also boasts an island green. The "Paradise Island" green may not be as dramatic but it is certainly still a challenge. The golf course is also known for being one of the only courses in the area to feature tour-quality Zoysia grass fairways.

A nice course, but due to recent rain there were many soggy areas. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
East course is a great choice
I have played the East course before and this time brought a friend. We loved the awesome fairways which promote great iron play and an enjoyable experience. The greens were nice and rolled true and the conditions were very good. The course winds through the trees and no homes in view make the round very peaceful. You have to play the East! The staff was very friendly and we can’t wait to come back to play the West course.
Course was still wet from earlier week rain storms, cart path only. Course was in very good condition considering all the rain. One of the better courses near lower Delaware
So, the staff were excellent, better than most places and it was extremely busy for a Monday! Turns out they had a huge outing on the other course too. Pace of play was slow because of how packed it was, so I can’t fault them for it. The course was very wet for how dry the weather has been. I can’t fault the course for being narrow from tee to green, I have myself to blame for hitting driver on every par four! It’s a great value for the money and courses in the area best advice I can give is to make sure it’s dry.
Would highly recommend. Good layout with practical value and very friendly staff.
Great conditions, good layout, average service
Staff was appropriate but did not exceed expectations;
Was met with the appropriate welcome but staff seeemed
just short of bothered with the patronage; had to place the flag in last 4 holes as we first group and d we played “too fast; you got in front of the guy cutting the greens”. In 30 years of playing golf, I can say that this was a first.. All in all, an above average experience but staff could use a lesson on customer service excellence. Course conditions were excellent; love the type of fairway grass that perched the ball up beautifully.
Course was in great shape., Greens were just the right speed. Great value for the price
Enjoyed playing the zoysia grass fairways; greens in very good shape. Staff friendly; very good value for the money. I will definitely return to play this course again.
Great course for the average golfer
The staff is TOP NOTCH!!! Extremely friendly!!!! The East Course is pretty wide open and not a lot of forced carries — which is perfect for mid to high handicappers. Great Sunday Special for those over 55. The list price is $79 but the course conditions don’t justify that. The greens are fast but true. Definitely need to bring a GPS with you because markings (other than the 150) are tough to find. Tee boxes need some work. The course doesn’t drain well. Fairways need some TLC. That said, you won’t dip into your retirement account to play here. As I said, the staff is fantastic!!!!
Best staff around especially if mike Tritapoe stays around all around great guy
Fun and frozen!
It was 26° and no wind blowing! Ball roll was incredible! Didn't lose a ball until the 15th hole and that was because the ball stopped in the middle of the pond on the ice! We weren't the only two playing, there were others as well. This is a testament to how great this course is when you have folks playing in freezing weather! Enough said, just imagine it when. The weather is warmer.
Staff was friendly and professional. The greens were the fastest and smoothest that I have played all year. Fairways were wet in spots and it was cart path only for about half the holes which was not bad for the end of November.
Speed of play was slow and we waited on many holes. No marshall's were available to speed up play. Since it was late in the season, staff was most likely reduced. In the future it would be a good idea to have staff available "on call" for weekend days when the weather is warm as it was today.
Overall, it was very good value for the money paid on a hot deal.
I enjoy playing this course its open and good good for the intermediate player. The greens were in excellent condition but the course itself was wet. Overall an excellent outting
Good value for the price
Though many holes seemed similar this course was a good value for the price. It was cart path only because it had rain which made it seem long.
