Poor course conditions
This is the first course I played where I tried not to hit the fairways. The course is in very bad shape. I recommend playing anywhere else.
Love this course
Course still has some fairways that the grass hasn't completely grown in , but still well worth the money . It will be in nice shape in a couple of weeks .
Always Enjoy Playing Lone Oak
The fairways hadn't "greened up" yet, but were very playable. Greens were in great shape for April, and there was even sand in a few of the bunkers. There are rough spots here and there, but I think you always have to go back to the price to play. I've played at courses that charge twice as much, with similar issues. Looking forward to going back to Lone Oak several times over the course of the summer. It's just challenging enough for a golfer of my skill level, with a few "easy" holes mixed in with some holes that even scratch golfers would likely bogey more times than not.
Way OVERPRICED at their regular rate
This is a $15 to $20 course with the shape it is in, if you can get on for that price then go ahead. Anything higher than that is robbery. There are way too many courses in the area that are in much better shape that you can play for the same price or less. For starters, there was not a flat tee box on this course and if you could find one with any green at all on it was amazing. Fairways are supposed to be bermuda I think, so it hasn't been warm enough for them to come in yet, but there are a lot of weeds and other types of grass that should not be there. One fairway has a valley full of rocks running through it where there is supposed to be grass. And the bunkers, avoid those at all cost, most of them are so hard and packed down that you can walk across them without leaving a trace of a footprint. There is asphalt out there that isn't as hard as some of the bunkers. Then there's the greens.... they may look nice, but when you putt the ball it will bounce, hop, skip, and do just about everything else but roll where you want it too. Again, if this was a course you could consistently show up and play for $15 to $20 then it'd be great, but if you show up and pay the regular rate you will be highly disappointed. I have no clue how this has a 70% recommended rating, I do not plan on coming back.
Disappointed
I don't know who owns the course but after having played here several times I'm convinced they either don't have enough funding for course maintenance or just don't care.
Only one person is ever in the pro shop and they are not only responsible for checking people in and selling range balls but getting carts from the barn hundreds of yards away, all of which takes time from those of us waiting to play.
On this day we got what we paid for.
Best kept secret in central KY
Fantastic course and layout. Perfect combo of short holes, long holes, uphills, downhills, and doglegs. Greens were fast and true. Staff was very friendly. Scatter cart rules equaled quick pace on a busy day. Definitely my new go-to when visiting central KY.
Nice course
Really nice course. Not to hard not to easy. Had a good time. Only recommendation is get some food lol. I like a good hot snack at the turn. Overall great course.
Fun Round of Golf
I consider this my home course, even though I live in a neighboring town. It's relatively easy, with limited water and manageable rough. There is out of bounds around the perimeter, but on most holds you can play down an adjacent fairway with little problems if your tee shot id off line. Currently the greens are under repair, being aerated, and putting is total guess work, but they are improving with time.
Odd but true
Have you ever finished a hole closer to the green but not actually on the green (like in a fairway)? Never in my 20 years of golf experience have I not finished a hole on the green(putting green). I guess they were repairing, so put the flag on the fairway very close to the green and spray painted a circle around the flag. Two holes were set up like this which made me mad, but otherwise, the course is ok. The Tee box grass could be a little smaller I think.
Trash course
Booked and paid my tee time online and and they paired me with someone and forced me to pay 13$ for a cart cause I had my GF riding with me when I already paid for my own cart through golf now! Last time I golf there
Cheap price but needs work
Rough was extremely (too) long, and greens were in rough shape.
Great Greens
Lone Oak is a challenging course with super nice fast greens. They need work on the sand traps and parts of the cart paths, but this is the best value in the area I have found.
Great Value!
Paid just under $20 to play this course. Wonderful deal. It was a very slow day, as it was very busy but we got through it. The gentleman named duke was working the pro shop when we finished up and he was super nice. (A lot nicer than the man that was working when we started) the course was in great shape. Greens were soft and a little slow but true none the less. I will play here again.
Hidden Value
The course is admittedly not in the greatest shape, but for the price it is a great experience. Between the cheap greens fees, and the cheap range balls, Lone Oak creates a solid golf experience without the little man being priced out. Absolutely recommend this course to any golfer who is looking for bang for their buck. At Lone Oak, golf isnt just a rich mans game.
not happy with golf now changing the rules!
this course was fine! don't like the new policy of having to book a tee time 3 days in advance to get the promo discount you need to change this back ASAP! I can not book something 3 days in advance! please change this back! why would you do this? Your going to lose customers!
Great value
Fun track for all levels of golfer. Relatively straight and short even from the back tees with a few challenging holes interspersed. Greens, fairways and tees are pristine with only a few that need a little t.l.c. there's some repair/improvement Work going on but didn't interfere with overall play. One of the best valued courses in the area and definitely has replayability. Staff is courteous and professional. Fun fact , I played this round without a driver1 and aside from a miss hit on the first par5, I was g.I.r. on the other 3. Like all courses accuracy/placement is rewarded, especially since you don't have to rely on the long ball. I'll be back again and you should come with me.
P.s. I rarely take the time to write reviews so if you read this, you can take it to the bank.
