Houston Oaks Golf Course

Very well managed golf course. Very few bad places, other than nice thick rough, on the course. Greens ran very true. Highly recommended.

Played as a single and was courteously passed through by foursomes after 1 and 11. Had the whole course to myself for at least 16 holes. Fairways outstanding condition with mower lines showing pattern mowing. Greens in perfect condition. Rolled very nicely with good speed. There are a couple of holes that would have been nice to have had a local to advise where to hit but between cart GPS and laser, I managed quite well. Only complaint is no laser reflectors on flag stick for accurate range reading. Cart GPS gave distance and picture location of pin but often times those were misleading because of up and downhill slope so an accurate laser reading would have given better confidence on approach shots.
This truly is a gem of a course way off the beaten track. Price is very reasonable. Would play more often except it's 82 miles away...

Course was fun. Really hot so water was a must. 1st water cooler was empty, called clubhouse too report it. No water at 2nd cooler either. Bought fluids at clubhouse, they were filling last cooler when we got there. Pace was good. Some bunkers were washed out and some had standing water but we just had heavy rains few days before. For this area course and conditions were better then average. Would go back.

Look, I love this course. I'm not even what one would consider a good golfer, and Houston Oaks is challenging, but I love it. I really have no knocks against this course. Fairways are always in a great condition. Course is well manicured. My main beef is with all the jack legs that play this course who don't have the decency to fix their green divots.

Unfortunately, green maintenance is one of those things that is out of the courses control. When divots go unrepaired, the green conditions diminish quickly. I would suggest Houston Oaks get real serious about monitoring this. Before long, the greens won't be playable.

Course is in amazing shape. The tees and fairways are the best I've seen in this area in some time. The greens had a little poe but still roll great. Played as a twosome and got behind a foursome that would not let us through is my only complaint.

Just played my first round as a member of the Ky. senior amateur tour, what an thrill! Temp. 40deg. winds 12 to 20, tough to say the least.
My first time to Houston Oaks but not my last, thank GOD for the GPS system, because you really need to think your way around this course. Driver off of the tee box is not the norm, water awaits for the long balls. And the greens are table top slick, be ready for some three putts.
Cudos to the grounds crew, the best shape of any course I've been on this year!
I think there was 90 players that day and the staff was awesome!

Great layout. very wet but the greens are in great shape. Staff were cutting greens and tees on Dec. 29!!!!
Young lady in the pro shop very nice and helpful. Worth the drive from Cincinnati. Will be back when the weather breaks

A little frost delay but the course was fantastic. Greens were in great shape and the fairways were nice. The back 9 has more character with the water hazards but the front nine has the creek to contend with.
Mother Nature have us a major challenge with some 30-40mph wind gusts and an easy 20 mph consistent wind but I still enjoyed the course.

My first time playing here....excellent. Course was in perfect condition. Wished we could have gotten some food on the turn though. Even pre-made cold sandwiches would be agood idea when kitchen is not open. Food for thought.

This was my first time playing here and it did not disappoint. Beautiful course overall.

Has been a while since I played this course, but still a great place. On the day we played the weather was excellent, had not rained in 5 days, but the course was very damp. Showed signs of recent aerification on the greens and fairways, looked as if it had been done the prior week. The greens were on the slow side, but very playable. In the fairways the ball had very little roll and most of the time had mud on it. This being said the course played long, but was in great shape, and over all enjoyed the round. The courts is very open for the most part, and water comes into play more on the back nine. once you get to far off the fairway very heavy heather is abundant, but you have missed your target badly to get there. This is a course that you will want to play more than once, and is a very good value. and well worth the drive (14 minutes) from Lexington.

Nice course but lack of rain for the past month has the course showing stress. Fast and hard greens. Look forward to returning after Mother Nature greens the course up again. Rough was rock hard but most courses are now. Friendly staff.

Excellent course in very good shape. Two greens had been damaged by vandals, but not really a factor. Great course for the money.

Pros: The course, layout and staff were superb. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were lush and well-groomed. The greens were super fast - we'd never putted on anything like them before and it did take a little getting used to. Remnants of a farm were evident - we even drove through a narrow horse barn to get to #15 tee and back through it to #17 tee. Several bridges covered the creek that meandered throughout the property. Challenges included plenty of ponds, lakes and creeks to the right and left of the tees, along with dense brush and elevation changes. Stay on the fairways and you can't go wrong.

Cons: We (and apparently others on the course) weren't told of a couples scramble that was already on the course (on a Sunday at 3:30 p.m.!?). We and 4 other groups had to wait on several holes, which made our round 5 hours long.

We loved the setting, the course, the facilities and the staff, and will be back if circumstances are more normal and the price is right.

One of the best courses around the area for the money. They have GPS on the carts which is very helpful knowing your distance and being able to order food before the the turn.The staff is always friendly and would recommend you play this golf course if you have not experienced it yet.

Got hot deal for 4 players, course was crowded but got out on the tee time. Staff was very friendly and helpful, greens were fast but would hold approach shots . Great course especially for the price. If ur near lexington u should play it.

This is my second time playing this course. The first was in good condition, but this round was spectacular. The tees, fairways and greens were in great shape. I love the fast greens. Water comes into play on several holes along with a variety of fairway bunkers. It helps to pay attention to where things are. I brought 2 guests that have not played here before. They were duly impressed with the conditions and layout. Nice job to the maintenance crew and staff overall.

I have played this course numerous times and it is always in excellent shape. The course is challenging for me. The layout is nice and I like the fast greens. Overall a very good course.
