Houston Oaks Golf Course

I'm a Hacker admittedly so, and I found Houston Oaks a true course of risk/reward for the low handicap to scratch golfer and for guys like me, just enjoy the course's beauty and do not worry that much about what you are scoring. Take what this course gives you and don't try to force the issue or, this course will make you pay for it.
The staff was friendly and accommodating. The clubhouse was clean and nice. The carts had GPS. Overall, I had a very good time playing HOGC!

The day we played, they were having a golf course superintendents tourney. The Houston Oaks guy was showing off. He had the greens super firm and super fast. It was impressive to see the difficulty that the firm, fast greens brought into the game. I have played there a few times and the greens are always firm and fast, but not like this day. It was a great experience, but very difficult to stop the ball, esp out of the rough. One of my favorite courses in the Lexington area.

We enjoyed our round. Great pace, great price, beautiful greens, generous landing areas. Bar closed on Sundays........................ .

Came up from North Carolina for a golf tournament and arrived early to get a practice round in at a course that was close to the other courses we were playing. Great condition and value. Courses in the triad, North Carolina are in horrible shape and the Bermuda is struggling so you are basically hitting off hard pan and dirt in the fairways. Not here. Everything is green and plush. Greens smooth and fast. Hate I have to go back to NC and play sub par conditioned courses.

The fairways are in great condition, I've never played here when the weren't. The greens are prestigely perfect at any time, one of the most chalagenig, fun green to test you and amaze you of what you can do.

All the carts have GPS linked to each and to the pin placement. When looking at the screen it will show carts playing in you area and distance to each of the an the pin. First timers find it so fun to play with.

Course In Phenomenal shape and the food was superb.

Houston Oaks is a gem in the Bluegrass. It offers a myriad of challenging holes with the truest and fastest greens in the region.

It is laid out beautifully in a residential development with ample water and sand to penalize poor shots. The greens are very quick and well manicured.

It's definitely worth the scenic drive along Paris Pike to the course from Lexington. I highly recommend this facility.

Greens are cut and rolled. All you can expect with the weather we have had.

I had the opportunity to play on the first great weather day of the year. I entered the club house and was greeted enthusiastically by the attendant. She was cordial, professional, and helpful (course layout, GPS in cart, cart locations, etc). I proceeded to the first hole and thoroughly enjoyed a quiet round of golf. Surprisingly, the course was in very good condition considering the amount of snow that the area has had. The course itself is challenging and yet very playable.
Concluding, I must say that the service was great, the employees helpful and courteous, the course was excellent - and it would have been perfect if I could only improve my golf swing!

Enjoyable day and fun track. Multiple tee boxes to challenge all players. Has a little of everything, water, sand traps, links, woods, and did I mention GPS on carts!

Getting there was the hardest part, in the back of nice sub division, even my gps got confused about where to turn, called the course and the girl got me where I needed to be. She then gave me an overview of the course since it was my first trip there. Course was in good shape, greens were smooth, fairways Excellant, water was clean, and the barn was a great touch.

This course was in good shape as it is most of the time. Greens rolled well. Course mowed well. If you can play for 22 bucks on a Sunday you've scored a good deal.

Played at the same time as a Kentucky football game - nobody in front, nobody behind for 18 holes. Fun holes, some of which require strategic shot selection. Will play again.

Nice course but greens had just been overseeded and putted poorly. Wait a couple of weeks before playing.

It is a fun course and great play. Its a great location for me. it was raining off and on the whole time but still a good time.

Course was in better condition than I was expecting for August. Carts had rain covers for clubs and GPS. Both came in handy the day I played. Greens were very fast considering the rainfall. Nice sand in bunkers. No problems with the course whatsoever. If only it hadn't been raining... :)

If you have never played Houston Oaks…..GO! Great Course!

Course was in good condition. GPS system in carts gives your fairly accurate yardages and also keeps score for you. Play was very slow, but it was a saturday afternoon. Clubhouse was manned by one kid (aged 16-22?) who was cashier, starter, and manned the grill in the snack bar. Allowed 4 twosomes to tee off back to back rather than pairing up. Did not see one marshal out enforcing rate of play. I have played here before and never had this problem.
