Freeport Country Club
About
Freeport Country Club is conveniently located just 20 minutes from Portland, Lewis-Auburn, and Brunswick-Topsham and it is also only minutes from one of Maine's most popular attractions, the L.L. Bean flagship store. Freeport itself is also a charming destination, with plenty of shopping and activities available. The nine-hole layout is gentle enough for beginners but there are still a few challenges in store. The holes are tight and golfers will be confronted with the occasional elevated green. The course is known for having some of the area's best maintained greens. There are also three ponds that come into play. Whether you play a nine-hole round or a full 18 holes, the golf course is a great price, especially for the country club-quality. The well conditioned driving range at the club is also popular.

Amazing
The staff was super friendly and helpful and my wife and I had a wonderful time playing and can’t wait to go back again. We are actually looking into saving up for memberships since we love it so much!
Not so hot
All the homes are close together, strange layout. No sand traps anywhere. Not well maintained at all. Dried out greens, horrible fairways, driving stands were almost dirt.
Quirky Layout
Some quirky hole layouts with fair course condition with many tees in poor condition... The good news is the cost to play is reasonable albeit , nevertheless, reflective of the mediocre course condition.
Great place to play very accomadating management looking forward to 8 19to play again
Great Course, Great Range
The course was in great shape and the greens were awesome. The best range around and maybe in the state. Grass tee, huge practice putting and chipping green. If your are in the area definitely come play.
Great Course!
This course is an all around fantastic course! I love how it is a perfect mix between fun and challenging.
I also have to mention how friendly the staff are there, always having a smile on their faces.
The driving range is probably on of the best in Maine, with the rolling hills and the apple trees.
Will definitely be coming back soon
Playing golf courses is a version of exploring
For Years now, I get on Interstate 295 around Brunswick. As I am blasting past this Freeport Golf course I always say " I gotta play there once. So I did. What can I say? It's a 9 hole layout that makes you use your golfer brain. I have never been one to want or expect a golf course to be pristine. Adjusting to the conditions is a big part of the game. If you live within 40 minutes of Freeport; come and play here once. Go into town and get some good food from burgers to steak, any wine or beer you can think of, and talk about your adventure at the Freeport Golf club. If you live more than 40 minutes, try FAIRLAWN COUNTRY CLUB. It's in the back of Poland. It's actually 18 holes for the same price. It's in great shape. It is a hidden gem. Freeport will never host the PGA. But it can be a fun part of a nice day out.
Horrible layout
This course is a 9 hole repeat, which is fine. The first 3 holes are nice, but then you put the driver away and start hitting blind shots off the tee to the green. Holes 4 an 5 literally have 90 degree angles. 8th home has a green that slopes 4-6% the entire green (horrible!).
I would only play this course if it was free. Tack on the fact your right next to I-95 for most of the course and it’s not even peaceful.
Unfortunately the course was extremely wet due to the abundance of rain this spring as most courses are. Fair price and would play again in dryer conditions.
Spongy
If I was the Town Manager of Freeport, Maine, I would not have had the course open for play today or maybe for the entire weekend! Everything was wet, spongy, rutted and with lots of standing water!! There was almost no where to drive the cart without being in mud and water. The few holes where there was some elevations or slopes were fair. They built what appears to be temporary crossings over the drainage ditches. Even when you hit a decent shot there was virtually no roll and the ball appeared to have brakes. I won’t play this course again until it is dried out and the ruts are repaired. The girl in the office was very friendly and helpful. I only wish she had warned me about the course condition before I went out for my round. I have played this course over the past few years several times and it was in fair to good condition, today it was an abomination.
