Freeport Country Club
About
Freeport Country Club is conveniently located just 20 minutes from Portland, Lewis-Auburn, and Brunswick-Topsham and it is also only minutes from one of Maine's most popular attractions, the L.L. Bean flagship store. Freeport itself is also a charming destination, with plenty of shopping and activities available. The nine-hole layout is gentle enough for beginners but there are still a few challenges in store. The holes are tight and golfers will be confronted with the occasional elevated green. The course is known for having some of the area's best maintained greens. There are also three ponds that come into play. Whether you play a nine-hole round or a full 18 holes, the golf course is a great price, especially for the country club-quality. The well conditioned driving range at the club is also popular.

All way a good time friendly staff will play as much as I can before the snow flies
Great Value Course
Friendly staff, decent playing conditions, and good pace of play. For the price, it’s a great course to play.
Never Again!
This was a horrible golf experience! We expected a nicer course for Freeport; this was definitely a hackers' course. We would have been ok with that, but it was a nine-hole course with people playing 18, so it would be slow on a good day. We got behind a 5-some which was playing so slowly that after over two hours we were on the 6th hole. They were apparently oblivious to golf etiquette and the fact that you should let a twosome play through. They were having a nice relaxed game at everyone's expense! We finally were so frustrated that we left after completing the 6th hole. Staff admitted that they had no one monitoring play. What a waste of our time and money! Never again!
This course in great condition staff is extra helpful and friendly will be back soon
Ehh
Course is nice enough. The greens are actually really good the fairways are decent. but the layout creates an insane amount of back up on each tee. You're playing over top of each other. Pace of play is the only real thing that makes this course very undesirable.
Challenging & fun
Some holes are very challenging yet interesting and fun. Still a good course for all levels of play with a friendly staff, overall nicely maintained and has a terrific practice range with large putting green and even a separate sand trap practice green.
Where do I go?
No signs anywhere to next hole, and horrible corse for 30 dollars a person
Best Score at Freeport
Yesterday I had my best 18 at Freeport!! It was a nice day, not too hot, breezy but humid. The course was relatively dry and hard. I was able to make great shots that got some extra runout due to the conditions. I hit lots of fairways and bogies with only two holes of doubles or more.
Earlier in the week I had one of my worst scores at Freeport and went there yesterday with redemption in mind!!! And boy, did I redeem myself!
I’ll be back!!
Played Poorly on a Course in Nice Shape
I don’t know what happened but I played really poor golf today!! My bad!! Course was in nice shape, mowed recently and grooming seemed better than normal. I certainly didn’t play up to PAR!!! My PAR! Oh well! I’ll go back a few more times this summer and challenge myself to do better!! Very few people playing so I didn’t feel any pressure to keep a fast playing pace!! Oh well, that’s golf!!
Pretty fun course
First time playing this course. Some of the layout can be confusing but a good course that offers challenges but not overly difficult. Some unique holes. Can't wait to play it again.
Best Condition Ever
I’ve been playing Freeport for the past 7 years when I’m in Maine during the summer. This is the best I’ve ever seen the condition of the course from tee boxes, to fairways and greens. Today it was pretty wet in the low areas due to severe thunderstorms last night. The cutting of the fairways was excellent. I’d like to see the cart paths improved so they are not so rutted with water puddles!
I played here for the first time this season and matched my best score ever on this course!
I’ll definitely be back!!!
Pleasantly surprised!
I hadn’t played here in a couple seasons. The last time the course was in rough shape. I could see they have done a lot of improvements with drainage, and just over all up keep in the green and fairways. I was very impressed and pleasantly surprised.
