In Excellent Shape
Naples is in excellent shape this year... A lot of work done on the greens to improve from the winter driven difficulties the course had last year, they are rolling smooth and true this summer. I have been playing this course for almost a decade now and have never seen the course in as good of shape as it is now.
2015 Course Update
The condition of the fairway on hole 1 much improved. Also, the green of the hole 4 has been redone and is in much better condition. The greens on the back nine are as continuing to mature and were in the best condition I have seen in years. The front nine is still is a "hard hat" layout, with potential safety issues on 3rd tee and fairway. 4th tee, fairway.and green. Of note is the bell by the 4th green is not longer present. Hopefully, this is only temporary due to the green overhaul. Finally, the 10th fairway is a safety concern, so be careful when teeing off on this hole.
2 very different nines, but very enjoyable...
The front 9 is fairly open and the newer back 9 is tree lined and much more interesting. Definitely worth playing Naples. Greens are in pretty nice shape and very puttable. Fairways in good shape. Tees a bit rough in places. Really like the back 9 design and routing, and how you have a feeling of being alone on each hole because you can't see any of the other holes.
The attached photo is from the tee on a back 9 par 5 with one lone, huge pine tree in the middle of the fairway. Neat hole. :)
Course was in good shape
Naples was is good shape. Pretty empty this time of year so fairly quick round. Front nine has a couple scenic greens on Sebago Lake. The back nine seemed longer and a bit more challenging. The greens were in good shape and a bit on the slow side, but I am used to Florida greens that are much shorter and faster. Overall a very nice course.
The worse course I have ever played
Don't play here unless it's $20 or less. Green where bad fairways long as rough not enjoyable right now
Love the back 9
Some of the greens were a little rough but the winter was unkind to all golf courses in New England. The front 9 is somewhat easy. The back 9 is fun and challenging. I could play hole 14 all day. With hot deals, Naples gives you your moneys worth and more.
This course is on the western shores of Sebago Lake in Naples Maine
This course was in OK condition but all greens were being repaired. Instead of repairing a few each day. No water on course anywhere to keep hydrated. We're always up to trying new courses but so far this was the worst of all that we've played on this year.
Interesting Course - Some Bad Greens
Front nine has been around for 75+ years and is not spectacular but a decent test of golf. Half of the greens are not in good shape from winter kill. Probably most will need the year to recover. Back nine is why you ought to try this course IF you can get a good deal on GolfNow. Built in the last 15 years or so, there are some really nice holes (not quite spectacular but close).Nice layout with lots of variety. Play it if you can get it for under $20 on a Hot Deal. Otherwise you might be disappointed.
