Annual State (MESGA) Tournament
So totally impressed with the conditions of the Course. In the over 20 years of playing Riverside, this was the BEST conditionsI have ever seen.

I always love playing this course, and it was in great shape. There is a lot of history at Riverside, and I'm glad to see the pro shop has finally made an attempt to display a few of the stories of it past glory. I watched a lot of good golf on that course over the years. One negative though: they are trying to entice people to walk the course in the midst of a record heat wave, and they announce there is no drinking water available on the course for at least the past two seasons! Come on! There is no excuse for not having water! Hire a kid in a golf cart and haul out some coolers! A law suit if someone gets sick or dies will not be pretty!

Riverside
I play this course 3 too 4 times a month always friendly staff and the course is always in great shape variety of clubs can be used the course is very forgiving and you won’t get into much trouble as the fairways are wide and basically hazard free can normally play in 4 hours

Awesome Municipal Course
Riverside is a challenging but beautiful golf course maintained by the city of Portland. It is excellent condition, particularly for a municipal course. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The prices are about half what they are at other courses in the area. Unfortunately the price drives up the number of golfers so the pace of play is a little slow, about 4 and a half hours for a round. The course was opened in 1939 so has much of the character you expect in older courses.

Good round of golf.
Riverside is a well cared for municipal course that is challenging and enjoyable. The grille has good food and cold beer.

Riverside vs mother nature
Maine golf courses have suffered from extremely poor weather since November. Riverside is no exception. May has been extremely cool and wet -- most of the golf courses in the area are in very poor condition. The course was pretty wet and had a lot of damage from the winter. That being said, Riverside was well worth the money. The staff are very friendly and the grill is exceptional..

Good starter course
Good well maintained course. Really need to work on the greens, FAR too slow.

Always decent, good value
Had a good afternoon. Starter suggested we start on back so we could get 18 in before dark, that was nice of him!
Greens were good, fairways wet due to recent rains but overall course was in good shape.
Beautiful But Wet
Beautiful day, sunny, cool and windy!! After several days of rain, course had lots of puddles, mud and spongy grass. However tee boxes and greens were in really nice condition.
Since I played alone, I had a relatively relaxed round. Two ladies ahead of me asked if I wanted to play through on the third hole. Caught up to threesome, but since they were much better than me, so we played at a comfortable pace.
All in all I had my best round ever at Riverside!!

Excellent course
Riverside is one of the best public courses in Maine. The fairways and greens are excellent. It is the best value for the price.
Hi jimkeil, thank you for your dedication to playing our course and taking the time to share your feedback with us. We do have a couple of water fountains available in the clubhouse for customers to fill water bottles and signs are posted in numerous spots before reaching the first tee. We also sell water at very reasonable pricing - $1 for a 16.9oz and $2 for a 33.8oz. We have eliminated allowing coolers due to players bringing alcohol on the course. We also have a beverage cart scheduled to be on the course, but apologize if this was not available on the day of your round due to staffing call-outs. We do apologize for any inconvenience, but we appreciate your understanding and hope to welcome you back for a much-improved experience soon. We also encourage you to reach out to our staff directly if you would like to address these concerns further.
