Not in a hurry to return
Course conditions were good but the greens are slow. Slow pace of play, waited on every hole. You really have to pay attention on the front 9 so you dont get hit by other groups. Back 9 layout much beter. Bar and grill is set up really nicely and is good value. Pro shop well stocked and friendly.
This course offers great driving range and superior greens and a great staff
Nine Holes of Donald Ross and Then Nine Of Silva
Biddeford-Saco is a hidden gem near the Old Orchard Beach vacation area that is often overlooked. It is semi-private and mainly caters to its full membership, but there is some public access. I would recommend playing in the spring or fall when it is quieter. The front 9 is an old Donald Ross design. You can see his trademark carved out swales, false fronts and depth perception tricks. The 2 par 3's, numbers 2 and 8, are great long par 3's that require a full carry. The 4th is a par 4 with a swale in front of the green and a false front you cannot mess with. The back 9 was added 20 some years ago and is squeezed into a space better suited for about 7 holes. The holes are short and tight, with some doglegs and layups. The greens are over the top as far as undulations, presumably to offset the shortness of the holes. The 18th is a sweeping dogleg right, that goes downhill and then uphill. You will need to aim at the bunker on the left and hit a fade to find the fairway. This is a fun course that is easily walked. On a hot day you may even get an afternoon seabreeze that feels like air conditioning. The course is always in good shape and only has a few leftover scars on the greens from the winter of widespread winter kill. I will advise you to not be above the hole or you may be off the green if you miss the hole. You may have to look hard to find a tee time at B-S, but I assure you your patience will be rewarded.
